Re: Ableton xruns
I'm running a 6Gb laptop and I have the same problem, although maybe a bit less acute, so I'm not sure RAM is such a big factor. I do notice that when I'm doing somethiing else (for example using a browser) the amount of xruns increase momentarily. Yeah, it was a daft idea on my part. I chec...

Re: Ableton xruns
I uninstalled all instances of wine (all of them, purged, cleaned, etc). I was then able to properly install wine-rt and wineasio from the kxstudio repos and now Live runs properly (with minor crackles and pops) at 512 (instead of the 1024 previsously described). By coincidence, I also uninstalled ...

Re: Loading Windows VSTs within Carla
For me, trying to load any VST from Carla produces the error message "Failed to load plugin. Timeout while waiting for a response from plugin-bridge (or the plugin crashed on initialization?)" The log shows five instances of the message "ERROR: Carla assertion failure: "portId !=...

Re: KXStudio Update Issue
Interesting that you mentioned Wine. When I mark both dssi-vst and dssi-vst-bridge for upgrade in Synaptic then click Apply, the summary details are as follows: wine1.2 will be removed wine1.4 will be removed wine1.4-common will be removed wine1.4-i386 will be removed dssi-vst (version 0.9.2+git2013...

Re: KXStudio Update Issue
I tried upgrading just dssi-vst from Synaptic Package Manager and got the following error. Hopefully, that will provide some additional clues.

Re: KXStudio Update Issue
I clicked the "Check" button just now and got the same result. Is that what you meant by "reload the software sources" or is there something else I have to do?

KXStudio Update Issue
I ran Update Manager today in Ubuntu 12.04 and got the message "Not all updates can be installed". The "Adapter for VST an VSTi audio plugins" (shouldn't that be "and" rather than "an"?) aren't checked and clicking the checkbox will not toggle it. Just thought...

Re: Ableton xruns
I'm having similar problems, so I hope someone has a solution for us. I have Ableton Live Lite 8 AKAI Professional Edition (it came with my AKAI MPK25 keyboard controller). It works but there are lots of xruns and clicks. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with the KXStudio repositories. My JACK buffer size is ...

Re: Cadence Force Restart breaks Pulseaudio
you're right about removing pulseaudio, at least in Ubuntu (Unity). I hate Unity. I use GNOME Classic instead. :) Is everything sorted for you? Do you still need any help? Yeah, I think I'm okay for the time being. Thanks for asking. There is one question that comes to mind though. Ever since I sta...

Re: Cadence Force Restart breaks Pulseaudio
You should set the alsa-audio bridge to "none", it can conflict with pulseaudio. Thanks. I didn't realize that the ALSA bridge was independent of the PulseAudio bridge. But I've tried your suggestion and I now realize that the PulseAudio bridge still works when the ALSA bridge is set to &...

Re: Cadence Force Restart breaks Pulseaudio
Okay. I think I've found the solution to my JACK Bridge problem. I have to go into Ubuntu's System Settings and open the Sound applet. There, I can select which audio device to use for output. If I select "Jack sink (PulseAudio JACK Sink)", then everything seems to work as expected. Howeve...

Re: Cadence Force Restart breaks Pulseaudio
That's kinda intentional. Cadence is about getting JACK as the main sound server, and having non-jack apps working as bridges. Pulseaudio is the #1 reason why JACK fails to start so Cadence needs to setup a few things to make sure pulseaudio is a slave to JACK, not the master. Couldn't it be done i...

Cadence Force Restart breaks Pulseaudio
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 (precise) 32-bit. If I run Cadence and start Jack, then click the "Force Restart" button, it breaks PulseAudio every time. The Output Devices tab in PulseAudio Volume Control then shows No Devices. To get PulseAudio working again, I have to delete the ~/.pulse fold...
