Re: Continuing the jack/pipewire debate...

Sits quietly in the corner being productive, sequencing and recording hardware from my daw, playing guitar through virtual amps at very low latency, mixing and mastering albums with pipewire

What exactly is it, in a practical use case examples, that people are not able to achieve with pipewire?

If it's because of a vpn then you could try a different server/country. Often certain access points are blocked for various reasons. If it's happening without a vpn I'd guess they've marked the fingerprint. Try a different browser perhaps.

Ok, in that case just set qpwgraph as a startup application and you should be good to go.

Re: Audio input works on Bitwig but not on system (Ubuntu 23.04)

Is there a better solution than loading the .qpwgraph manually? I'm not sure, everything works as I need it on my system, with or without manually opening qpwgraph. The developer for that posts here so might be useful to ping him. I would but can't remember the username now, rnbc or something I thi...

Re: Audio input works on Bitwig but not on system (Ubuntu 23.04)

Have a look in qpwgraph. Perhaps it's not routed to the output by default since you probably wouldn't normally want a mic to be routed to the speakers since it would result in feedback. Bitwig has it's own way managing the inputs and outputs.

Re: Saturation plugins

Check out Fire - https://github.com/jerryuhoo/Fire. By far my favourite although it goes a lot more extreme than saturation. There is also Instinct - https://www.inertiasoundsystems.com/store/products/instinct/ I think saturation as a specific effect are a bit thin on the ground in linux, there are ...

Re: pipewire BS

The Arch version of Firefox has been compiled to use JACK when JACK is running. With Pipewire, Firefox may still think it's using JACK. Actually it would be using pipewire-jack . For whatever reason the Firefox JACK client isn't great, and for me will only work xrun-free with a 512 or larger buffer...

Re: pipewire BS

Have you looked at pw-top when this happens? Are they running at different sample rates or something? It shouldn't be an issue and I've not experienced anything like it but perhaps it is a weird conversion problem? Also, perhaps you have set up RT priorities too aggressively? Sounds like firefox doe...

U-he has been around since forever so I can't imagine they will be going anywhere, especially since he seems quite involved with clap. I would be interested to know the answer though if you get one.

Good track! I like how it changes direction and then comes back again. What hardware are you using?

Very good album indeed! Gonna listen to it a couple of times to let it grow on me. Best done with headphones on and eyes closed...

Thanks Imposter, appreciate you giving it a try! That's how I like to listen to it 8)

Re: Looking for synthesizers

I have kxstudio repo already. deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-debian/*/ubuntu bionic main and focal. Odd how "kxstudio-debian" is "ubuntu". Maybe I need to tweak that? I believe that's correct but I think I may be wrong about XT being in kxstudio, I can't see it listed in ...
