Re: Better performance in Windows

Is VCV able to run without Jack? Yes, and I get better performances that way. Alsa only, without even starting Jack. Did you do anything to configure alsa? I think most of the time I don't really need Jack but I just tried alsa again and I definitely get worse performance from it even with higher b...

Re: Recordings organisation software

You could set up an mpd library and use cantata as a front end. Then you can use year and custom genre tags for organising your recordings.

Puddletag is very powerful for tagging and organising files.

There is also sitala, I really like it although I don't remember if it runs standalone.

Re: No GUI for ZynAddSubFX

I had this problem ages ago, before the new UI, but I'm afraid I can't remember what the solution was. Is it running sandboxed in Renoise?

Re: Connections/settings persisting through sleep

Do you use the patchbay function in qjackqtl? That should make the connections again automatically.

Re: Better performance in Windows

loaded the same patch If you can upload the patch here, other users can test it with their LAW and compare it with their Windows computers. At least with Linux there might be different configurations. Is VCV able to run without Jack? Yes, VCVRack can also only run with ALSA. (Test it yourself, VCVR...

Re: Better performance in Windows

If your interface is capable of higher than 48kHz sample rate, set JACK to use the interface's maximum. You can always downsample later. I find that JACK runs far smoother and at much less latency at higher sample rates. That was counterintuitive for me at first, but it worked like a charm when I w...

Better performance in Windows

It pains me to say this but I am getting better performance in windows than linux. I am running VCV Rack and I noticed that in linux I am getting more crackles and slowdowns than I would expect with my computer spec so I booted into Windows and loaded the same patch and the playback is much smother....

Re: Mastering settings

It's almost impossible to really give any settings because it depends on so many factors such as how much headroom there is, how well it was mixed etc. Broadly speaking, you can try a compressor doing 1 or 2db max compression, slowish attack and release. If it needs it maybe try 1db or so of a high ...

Re: low latency guide

Has anyone actually tried to measure thee difference somehow with the mitigations on/off? I didn't notice any drop in performance when that happened so I wonder how true it is that it makes any difference.

Re: How much RT optimization is still needed?

Well I'm just saying about my experience. I'm not it sure why having a file on disk to be used if necessary could be bad. Even worse is losing your work which has happened to me more than once.

Re: How much RT optimization is still needed?

swappiness -- can't hurt I don't have a swap partition anymore since I consider it pointless with 16/32/... GB RAM and more. Swap is also not really wanted in the audio area. So I don't put that in either. I have run out of ram (16gb) with ardour before, which i think is down ardour or a plugin per...

Re: [SOLVED] Disable pulseaudio Jack source but keep Sink running.

That sounds very strange, could you not just disconnect it from rosegarden in qjackctl or whatever you use? I've never heard of that happening with any program and I have just installed rosegarden and it doesn't happen to me with pulseaudio running and bridged. The kxstudio developer has actually be...
