Re: Terratec DMX 6Fire USB - how to configure in OpenSUSE 13

I have an additional information, maybe it can be useful.
If I try to load the module manually sort this error:

Code: Select all

modprobe snd_usb_6fire
FATAL: Error inserting snd_usb_6fire (/lib/modules/3.11.10-7-desktop/extra/snd-usb-6fire.ko): Invalid module format

Re: Terratec DMX 6Fire USB - how to configure in OpenSUSE 13

Isn't there a switch where you can select another card (in the mixer itself)? In the command line tool 'alsamixer' I know you can press F6 to get a list with all devices. Excellent, good news that there are no problems with Jack Synk. I found that all the alsa mixer can start with a sound card spec...

Re: Terratec DMX 6Fire USB - how to configure in OpenSUSE 13

I took the test that you have requested. I put the makefile of the version 0.6.0 in the folder of the version 0.6.1, and run the instal procedure. The snd-usb-6fire.ko file was copied to the folder /lib/modules/3.11.10-7-desktop/extra/ and the driver was not loaded. I find this in dmesg [ 103.534101...

Re: Terratec DMX 6Fire USB - how to configure in OpenSUSE 13

You don't need to copy the driver to sound/usb/6fire; by convention external drivers go to the extra/ directory, there you also find the 6fire module. I copied the files in the folder /lib/modules/3.11.10-7-desktop/kernel/sound/usb/6fire/ because otherwise the module does not seem to start. Look at...

Re: Terratec DMX 6Fire USB - how to configure in OpenSUSE 13

Hi, Torsten. I realized that you're the guy behind the driver programming (precisely with the modinfo command) , my congratulations for your excellent work. Thanks to your report I found the driver forum, out of curiosity I read everything, even the old posts. So I proceeded with the installation. A...

Re: Terratec DMX 6Fire USB - how to configure in OpenSUSE 13

I think that jack suits the card, I got good results using it. I want to use Jack (if possible), but, as I mentioned, there is no audio management in Jack for the card. In Jack is visible only MIDI I/O, but seem not working (for example I do not see MIDI data transit into the transport of Rosegarde...

Terratec DMX 6Fire USB - how to configure in OpenSUSE 13.1

I have problems to configure and use the Terratec DMX 6Fire USB sound card. After the aid had in the Italian forum of openSUSE and the ALSA users mailing list, the card is visible in ALSA but responds poorly to commands and causes crash of the audio signal. I would like to use it with Rosegarden, Ar...

Re: Roland V Synth GT does not work via MIDI/USB on LINUX

You need to post all that lsusb info for the gt. This is the complete contents of the lsusb result for the GT. Bus 001 Device 009: ID 0582:00c7 Roland Corp. Couldn't open device, some information will be missing Device Descriptor: bLength 18 bDescriptorType 1 bcdUSB 1.10 bDeviceClass 255 Vendor Spe...

Re: Roland V Synth GT does not work via MIDI/USB on LINUX

lsusb -v Is the gt's bDeviceClass (or maybe bInterfaceClass) 255? If so, alsa doesn't know it's usbmidi. You have to tell alsa. Unfortunately you do that by modifying alsa's usbaudio driver source code (specifically adding an entry to quirks-table.h) and compiling a new driver. Actually the bInterf...

Re: Roland V Synth GT does not work via MIDI/USB on LINUX

Roland devices often have two USB modes. One is the USBMIDI standard. The other mode is a proprietary "enhanced" ..... I tried to control USB/MIDI modes. In the manual there is no trace of two USB/MIDI mode. In the menu of the synth I have not found settings for different USB/MIDI mode. I...

[SOLVED] Roland V Synth GT not working via MIDI/USB on LINUX

Hello to everyone. This is my first post in this fantastic forum (sorry for my bad English) I searched for problems similar to mine in the forum but I have not found anything. My problem: - configure the Roland V Synth GT as a USB/MIDI device and manage it, with MIDI command, as both input and outpu...
