I just tried it. It works well on my tests under debian wheezy 64-bits. Great synth. Nice to have flexible FM.
I only wished the UI fitted my 1366x768 screen, but other than that it rocks.
Thanks a lot!

Re: USB MIDI interfaces not working (kernel linux 4.0)
I don't know how you do this in cadence, but in qjackctl, have you selected "seq" on the "MIDI driver" dropdown list?
Also, if you want to see your alsa midi devices on the jack midi tab you can use the snd_seq_dummy kernel module.
Good luck!

Re: Why people don't like Unity and Ubuntu?
I don't like Ubuntu because it doesn't follow standards, and they don't care about compatibility with other distros. That can be seen in the choice of kernel version, the development of MIR, Unity, and probably in other respects too. And as far as DEs go, I only tried Unity when it first came out, o...

I've used lingot and have been quite successful. It can even load microtonal scales from scala.

Re: Midi patchbay with preset function?
You can save snapshots of alsa midi connections using qjackctl's patchbay. If you hit "new" under the patchbay window, it will ask you if you want to create the new patchbay as a snapshot of the current connections. You hit yes, and then save it. Afterwards, you can go to qjackctl's setup ...

Re: How to fix the setting of "CPU governor" in Cadence
Right. Of course you need root privileges.stamkorg wrote: If my cpu has 4 threads, in the script I must write: cpufreq-set -g performance -c {0,1,2,3} ?
Thanks

Re: How to fix the setting of "CPU governor" in Cadence
If cadence is able to execute scripts on startup, just have it run:
where n = #ofcputhreads - 1
qjackctl does allow you to run such scripts. If you want it back to ondemand on exit:
Code: Select all
cpufreq-set -g performance -c {0,1,..,n}

Re: Any synths that accept sysex messages to set tuning tabl
The only one I know of that works is timidity. Depending on the distance from the actual sampled notes, it can get very distorted. Fluidsynth is supposed to take MTS too, but I couldn't get that to work. It does however take it's own tunning files, which scala can output. Fluid also has a much bette...

Re: ZynAddSubFX 2.5.0
Are there any plans to make the parameters modify the sound in realtime? I mean if you tweak a knob, you don't have to wait until the next note to hear the effect... Zyn's windows vst already does that, so that's why I'm wondering.
Anyway, zyn is already great, thanks a lot, fundamental.

Re: Install from CD/???
Why would you want too :/ machines like that if they are to be repurposed are probably better of as a router/firewall. a not so old machine is pretty cheap, i picked up a laptop 2ghz dual core centrino with 2gb ram for £40 added power supply £20 and a 40gb sata drive for less than £10. Runs lubuntu...

Re: Install from CD/???
Before someone chimes in and tells me to upgrade :p , I tried KX on an old laptop of similar specs (single P3 @ 1133 IIRC) last year and it ran well enough. Not blisteringly fast but reasonable. I will basically use this rig for multi-track recording on my M-Audio PCI sound card which isn't too tax...

Re: calf with kxstudio patches?
Thanks for the help. I got it. I will not explain how to install that or keep that version from updating, there's literally zero support for that version (both from me and upstream calf devs). That's understandable, but these plugins proved to be stable (I've been using them to rehearse and perform ...

calf with kxstudio patches?
hi! The new version of the calf-plugins on the repo is without the ladspa and dssi versions. I upgraded accidentally and now I can't seem to find neither the packages nor the source code of the kxstudio patched calf 0.0.19 which shipped the alternative versions. Are they still available somewhere? I...
