Re: Carla won't open dll files

I tried removing and then reinstalling wine, and that did the trick. :)
I guess my version of wine (I believe it was 7.) created the problem, my version now is 5.0.3 .

Carla won't open dll files

Hello When I try to open a dll file in Carla (plugin host) it gives me this error message: Failed to load file Timeout while waiting for a response from plugin-bridge (or the plugin crashed on initialization?) It used to work previously, I don't know what I have changed about my system. The Logs in ...

I'm trying to get the timbre of the synthesizer sounds in my favourite song

Hello there, I don't know where exactly to put this question, but I'm trying to get a grasp on a certain sound I specifically really admire. It's the 'synth bell' sound in the song 'Faces' by 'Clio' from 1985. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JenXIQazv2o I've been experimenting with certain bell soun...

Re: run some Windows VST plugins in Carla, no sound gets thr

OK, I saw the article - but didn't read it completely through - before I posted here on the forum but I thought it wasn't really applicable to my scenario as I wasn't using Debian or a derivative and use other repositories. I'm not super savvy on UNIX and Linux, I just understand the basic stuff, wh...

Hello, I'm running Fedora 22 64 bit with a CCRMA 4.0.5-300.rt4.3.fc22.ccrma.x86_64+rt kernel. I'm dualbooting OS X Yosemite and Linux on a MacBook Pro retina 15 inch: 16 GB ram 250 GB SSD quad core 2,2GHz Intel processor with overclocking to 3,4 GHz Before you might start telling me to just install ...

Re: switched distribution and now soundcard won't get recogn

I already got my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 today. (fast delivery) It worked out of the box -That is the reason why I choose this one-. My two inputs and all my outputs worked with no problem. I haven't tested the MIDI function as I already have a MIDI to USB cable and will keep on using that one. (It c...

Re: switched distribution and now soundcard won't get recogn

The last time I installed the KXStudio repos my CUPS package got messed up what ended in not being able to print anything and my LV2 plugins wouldn't show up anywhere. Of course KXStudio has an own distribution but it is Ubuntu based and I like to look further than Ubuntu. I have used Ubuntu before ...

Re: Newbie with electronic music, please advise!

You can install JACK if you haven't done that yet: http://jackaudio.org/ . JACK has MIDI support, you can use JACK to connect all your audio applications with each other. (sequencers, synths, effects, ...) I guess that you can install it trough your repos (trough software center if you are running L...

Re: switched distribution and now soundcard won't get recogn

No, I'm not making a joke. I'm also not saying it is better than apt-get/synaptic, I just find for myself that it acts more the way I want. Somehow I always ran into dependency problems with synaptic. Of course using it a half week won't say much, so I at least want to try making Fedora work as a D....

Hello, it has been a really long time since I have posted somehting here on the forums... But I'm back I guess. :) I have been running Debian for about a year and decided to switch to Fedora recently because I messed up my lv2 plugins. They won't get found by any host, I tried a lot of things and as...

Re: The Bad Fucoz!

I don't know how the mix sounded but if I have to trust my ears it all sounds really allright, doesn't it? :) No frequencys popping out or overcompression/dynamics squashing. I like the backing vocals (primarly) on the first track. (Welcome To The Fuco) And some interesting guitars. With some years ...

Re: Promoting Linux for Musicians and other Artist

Hey, welcome, I'm pretty new here as well. I also do believe that Linux software can be an alternative to a lot of closed-source and paid software. Linux is kind of hard (to learn) but more stable in some things I find. And the well known: immune against windows virusses/trojans/worms! ;) I finally ...

Re: distorion/crackling when connecting guitar with soundcar

My distortion/crackling/hiss/... problem is solved !! I just had to go to my alsamixer and put the monitor level at 0. :) So in the end I solved my problem myself. (I'm so happy.) Thanks for all the help! (Although the source of the problem was somewhere else to be found.) Now I can monito...
