Re: What distros are you using?
I am using Linux Mint 13 (Maya) (with KXStudio PPAs). I am also suffering from the freeze problem (see bug ). It's about time I switch to a different distro. I am downloading Ubuntu Studio 12.04 - it looks like the best and most popular studio. TheSafePlaces uses it - he's an experienced user with ...

Re: Thousands of SFZ samples for LinuxSampler
Thanks Anthony,
This is useful information. I added it to the wiki under Instruments, Samples, and Sound Effects.

Re: The composer's toolbox
Thank you StudioDave and TheSafePlaces. I'd suggest not adding anything to the wiki just yet. The wiki IMHO is for 'known stuff' - the general knowledge of the community, which is more or less evolved through discussion on forums and IRCs. Let consensus for different workflows for different styles o...

Re: The composer's toolbox
Maybe I'm nitpicking, but scorewriting (and Lilypond) is only one half of Laborejo. The other half is sequencing, so technically it comes under the 'Sequencer+Scorewriter' category...nothing major though. According to my understanding, most scorewriters have sequencing capabilities. It is part of t...

The composer's toolbox
In this thread, I would like to discuss the optimal toolset and workflow for composition. Composition comprises of two stages: (1) scoring (2) production A composer is expected to create two distinct but related products: (1) the score (2) the audio Scoring is the process by which a composer represe...

Re: Problems with JSampler and SSO
SSO is no good for professional works. Used in combination with Fluid R3 it makes for strictly okay, semi-pro stuff. It shouldn't be abandoned outright (unless of course a better alternative presents itself). My point is that SSO has already been abandoned. I want to commit some fixes, but I can't ...

Re: Problems with JSampler and SSO
Hi Nils Gey, I've read your posts at Music made with Laborejo (and Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra) , and I've been reading from your blog (very informative, what would we do without you?). I now understand that SSO is not suitable for the Linux community to adopt as a continuing project. But as tnovel...

Re: Problems with JSampler and SSO
Just in case - do check what key has been mentioned in the SFZ file. It is possible that the guy making the instrument files screwed up. Or the guy labeling on the samples :3 Although I don't think this would be the case, considering what you write about the flute SFZ... From what I can tell, this ...

Greetings from Canada!
Hi everyone, My name is Aviv. I am glad to be a new part of this great community. I've been using Ubuntu since 2010, and for the past year, Linux Mint 13 (with the MATE desktop environment). I am currently in the process of figuring out the optimal toolset and workflow for music production under Lin...

Re: Problems with JSampler and SSO
Thank you falkTX and TheSafePlaces. Kindly read about the difference, on that selfsame page, further down. If you are _aware_ of this and still cannot see the difference in the SFZ files of the OOM version...ouch, then someone has mucked with the file on the OOM page. You'll have to do it yourself, ...

Problems with JSampler and SSO
Hello fellow Linux musicians, I tried to test the Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra with JSampler - but it fails to load the solo instruments. I read the thread SSO and QSampler [SOLVED] and downloaded the OpenOctave MIDI version of SSO (from the OOM library ). I found no differences between the two vers...
