Re: jackd - MIDI clock and MIDI 2.0

Are the MIDI messages transmitted by jackd with the same timing accuracy (RT) as audio? Yes. Jack sync MIDI messages with audio sample position. So audio and MIDI is perfectly synced in jack. This is a very confusing thing to say, lol It's not about latency but about SysEx messages, were jack fail....

Re: jackd - MIDI clock and MIDI 2.0

Could jackd send a stable MIDI clock to external devices? Jack itself didn't send any MIDI message whatsoever. Jack is a server. It provide a interface were midi messages could be send from on port to another. What ever you send have to be in a 3 byte range. That cover all possible messages in the ...

Re: Guitarix as a plugin?

Carla have two different modes to load the GUI, there is the so called "bridged GUI" and the direct one. If, the error happen during using the bridged mode you may report it on the carla issue tracker. Sorry, but I've currently no time to update carla and check by my self, but surely guita...

Re: Guitarix as a plugin?

That means you build with jack session support. Please uninstall the build (sudo ./waf uninstall) and then run ./waf distclean then ./waf configure --prefix=/usr --includeresampler --includeconvolver --optimization --no-jack-session then ./waf build then sudo ./waf install that should give you a bui...

Re: Guitarix as a plugin?

Jack session is depreciated in the meantime, so it seems falkTX have disabled it in his own jacklib in carla, but it is still in jack itself so guitarix is build with support for it. I've no added a configure option in guitarix so that you could disable jack session support in guitarix during build....

Re: Windows Audio vs. Linux Audio

So which group of people do you think are going to produce the better system? You could wining, or make it work. That, works on any platform. I must admit that I'm this day's don't have a idea how I could capture a mic in windows this day's. Go away with realtime effect processing. Does that works ...

Re: Reaper vs Ardour?

To me there is no Reaper vs Ardour. To me it's free (as in speech) software vs proprietary software. So I do have to ask (and it's a genuine question) if you're OK with proprietary software why do you use Linux? Unfortunately this is a lost question. Those who been OK with using proprietary softwar...

Re: How to get MIDI output from guitarrix to LMMS

Actually I was wrong, you need to enable under Plugins -> Tuner midi out.
But as said, there are better tools to do that, the Tuner midi out purpose is to drive a external midi controller to be able to show the tuner output.

Re: How to get MIDI output from guitarrix to LMMS

Select in the menu Options-> Send MIDI Feedback, connect the MIDI output port from guitarix to LMMS and enable the tuner in guitarix. That's it. But be aware that the guitarix tuner midi output is just monophonic, so don't expect it to be a audio to midi converter. In terms of MIDI it will give you ...

Re: Unexpectedly high xruns with modern hardware

you could just use the debian package. When the build fail, run export IGNORE_PREEMPT_RT_PRESENCE=1 and rebuild the driver (apt install -f), or check in the terminal the make command the driver use, copy it over and add IGNORE_PREEMPT_RT_PRESENCE=1 to the make line. I don't know for sure, but as far...

Re: Unexpectedly high xruns with modern hardware

The Nvidia driver build script have a environment variable, you could set

Code: Select all

export IGNORE_PREEMPT_RT_PRESENCE=1
before build, or just

Code: Select all

make IGNORE_PREEMPT_RT_PRESENCE=1

Re: Unexpectedly high xruns with modern hardware

That's partly true, Debian's RT kernels and most others won't allow Nvidia drivers to build. I'm using the Nvidia driver with a rt-kernel since years now on my debian/sid system without issues. True, I'm used to build my own kernels so I don't know if that works with a stock debian rt-kernel as well.

Re: CPU temperature 94 degrees Celsius!

Try just enabling one of those parameters at a time to determine which one is causing the heat. My Intel i5 6500 idles around 35℃ and when maxed out with video encoding sits on about 60℃. Kernel parameters are: "quiet intel_idle.max_cstate=0 processor.max_cstate=1 threadirqs" Yea, that's ...

Be aware that this is only a optimisation for the build process, means faster build. The -j option tells make how many parallel processes it could run. The resulting binary differ in now way from a binary build with just make.
