Driver works with stable kernel 5.8.6 as well.
All glory and kudos to @Drumfix who wrote the driver.

Re: New driver for UltraLite AVB (and 828ES)

This is very good news!

What is the chance this patch finding it's way into the official kernel?

Note:
Don't apply other patches for MOTU Ultralite AVB. Just replace sound/usb/misc/ua101.c

Bonus:
One reader tested the driver successfully with his 828ES.

Hi ahellquist

It's the latest firmware, 1.3.5+626.

Fritz
Ok. Great to know.
I will build a patched kernel and upgrade one of my devices to check how it works.

Thanks

Re: Ultralite AVB

Just a quick update: with the latest patch and a shorter USB cable it seems to work flawlessly (no channel hopping, no artifacts so far). Just one or the other is not enough (we've previously tried a shorter USB cable without the patch and it didn't solve the issues). Hello ! With what firmware is ...

Re: Ultralite AVB

I did try your patch with suggested kernel on a Ubuntu Studio 20.04 Default XFCE Nouveau driver Compiling and installing went well after reverting from Nvidia to Opensource drivers My system booted up to login manager but freeze pretty hard before being able to login. Mouse also stuck, Power off was...

Re: Ultralite AVB

My bad, i added the proper line in the clock.c file and then forgot about it. I'd say linux is to blame here because the descriptor for the isoc IN endpoint has the implicit feedback bit set and that's ignored by the driver. If Linux is to blame. We maybe should not complain to Motu at all. Will th...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Sorry, I have not enough knowledge to give you a template. My suggestion was based on reading all discussions pointing to Motu being know for bad usb implementations. I do not know if that is true but you could at least go to the Motu site and register your device if not already done and ask if the ...

Re: Ultralite AVB

File support tickets that address the problem with USB-timing that affects all platforms and do not focus on linux-compability or the ticket will be silently ignored. I have filed tickets and they have replied that they will look into the issue but they never deliver. If more people engage, they mig...

Re: Ultralite AVB

Dear forum... I bought my Ultralite AVB in 2019, already equipped, by chance, with 1.3.2+520 firmware, without knowing. So I simply tried that in the shop and worked very well since the beginning. Then I went into the nightmare of firmware upgrade until I found this forum and found that the "good v...

Re: Firewire audio devices

Thanks GMac for you input.. I understand that it might be the end of the road but as long as it is possible to run my devices even if i have to build my own kernel (i used to run Gentoo at one time so it will probably work fine) I will be a happy camper. My problem is that I have One mixer, and at l...

Re: CollaB3 vintage organ

I wonder what this can do that setBfree doesn't already do ? I have been using setBfree for a long time and at one time after a concert an organ player (that uses a Nord C2D that is considered a good B3 replica) came up to me to ask what I was using for my B3 sound since he thought it sounded much b...

Minimizing X-Runs (what did the trick for me)

Hi ! I installed a new laptop for live gigs and practicing at home a few months ago. The laptop is a Lenovo T540p with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz 8 Gig ram and SSD connected to a Motu Ultralite AVB that did work fairly well on my very old Fujitu-Siemens H710 From the beginning I di...

Firewire audio devices

I have been using Linux exclusively for all my work and audio production and live performances for many years now and it was a rocky road at the beginning. Struggling with firewire and the right controllers to get things stable as well as rt-priorities was a challenge but after some time things star...

Re: Ubuntu studio vs Kubuntu (+kxstudio repos). Advantages and disadvantages?

Hi Everyone, I am about to install a new distro to setup with Reaper. I was initially planning on installing kubuntu, but I wanted to check in if there are major advantages or disadvantages compared with ubuntu studio that I should be aware of. I'm just a beginner in with linux audio. Thanks! Edit:...
