Re: Getting paid!

I actually have an idea for a movie. I suspect it will take place in the world I am building - there's a lot of swamps, and the story is pretty swampy. It's basically a sequel to H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow over Innsmouth", but instead of Deep Ones there will be vampires. (Mean vampires, ...

Re: Getting paid!

There's also the option of a Minecrafter, a musician and someone who edits video getting together. That could be cool. Probably not a ton of money, but if you get good at putting music to video - that's a job. Every television show, movie and nearly all video advertisements have music. There's alway...

Re: Getting paid!

Minecraft + OBS makes for a great graphic art platform for people who don't want, or need, the level of detail and animation you would get if you used Blender and it's much, much easier to use - it comes with a broad range of textures that look nice and work well together and there are many mods to ...

Getting paid!

I don't know about anyone else here, but I want to make a living making music. I've got a plan I've been working on for about 10 years - Minecraft music videos. The first time I played Minecraft the idea burst into my head, "Build cool stuff, make videos and add music!". I'm not quite ther...

Re: Linux stability for music production

I'll have a microphone tomorrow and I'll probably have my first 'Let's Play' video up on Tuesday. I know the pack like the back of my hand - making an LP shouldn't be too difficult. If you still think I'm a troll just wait until that video comes out and tell me about it in the comments. Don't forget...

Re: Linux stability for music production

Assuming that someone is a troll just because they say that there are problems with Linux is weird, btw. :(

Nothing is perfect. Don't ever believe otherwise. That doesn't mean that things can't get better.

Re: Linux stability for music production

I should also point out that OBS Studio is supported entirely by the professionals that use it and it is doing quite well. It's is also used by professionals for AV work. We are winning, it's just very slow. :x

Re: Linux stability for music production

Linux Mint is my daily driver. I use it for everything that isn't Minecraft or music. I don't like windose, but it doesn't get in my way when I do those two things - it's the day to day issues of the OS that I despise  If I wanted to triple boot I might be able to get a mostly usable system...

Re: Linux stability for music production

Da Vinci is being made by the company that is using it for professional work. Yeah, they charge for it, but that's mostly just to cover the cost of distribution and promotion. Their audio tools are pretty fantastic too. It's not a DAW, but for people who don't need that there's a lot of functionalit...

Re: Linux stability for music production

I go on and on about how great I think Linux is and nobody notices, but when I point out the problems it has, I'm a troll? I truly believe that one day I will be able to quickly and easily set up my recording environment on my favorite Linux distro and it will just work. Someday... 8) (It's not all ...

Re: Linux stability for music production

Music is more important to me than Linux and it's what I need to do right now. I'll check back on Linux for music production when pipewire is more usable. **I've been on this forum for 10 years and using Linux on the desktop for almost 20. I believe in Linux for music production; it's just too compl...

Linux stability for music production

It could be that I'm just a Linux fanboy, but I sincerely believe there is an inherent stability to the Linux kernel that can be experienced physically by the user. I feel different when I use Windows from when I use Linux and I think much of that is due to it's stability. The Linux kernel design is...

Re: Questions about using Debian

Did you solve this stuff with the youtube problem? I'm thinking of using debian xfce with KX repos if it works well. Either that or Mint xfce. Which is advisable? Take a look at SolydX. It's Debian testing with Xfce. The dev was a long time Mint forum member and he made LMDE versions for KDE and Xf...

Preach on!

Closed formats and standards are created by shortsighted greed and fear.
