Re: zynaddsubfx - where have all the presets gone?

It's only too bad that I wanted to show and advertise the "power" of Linux, but instead I spent the time between the soundcheck and the concert trying to figure out how to make things work...I guess I'll wait until it's really ready... That's an all too familiar feeling - sadly. I've been...

Re: 10 band graphical EQ with professional metering for linu

@tramp: We've certainly had discussions about MOD with the developers, I don't know if you're one of them or involved in the project personally, but I indicated in those discussions that I have no problem with supporting MOD or any other product, and if LV2 is what it uses, and there might be more v...

Re: 10 band graphical EQ with professional metering for linu

If I'm wrong then I stand corrected, but as far as I know that doesn't provide filters which you can set beyond the theoretical Nyquist limit, nor necessarily with the correct equivalent analogue gain at Nyquist - at zero latency for all filter types without internal upsampling (no matter what the U...

Re: 10 band graphical EQ with professional metering for linu

I would suggest adding mid/side processing at some point As with all the plug-ins, development is on-going and evolving, so there are plans for things such as split processing for left and right, mid / sides, auto-listen, auto-gain etc etc, but for a small company, the reality is we need to get a p...

10 band graphical EQ with professional metering for linux

Linux users might be interested in this graphical EQ which I developed, and is distributed by my company, for Linux (and Windows / Mac) http://www.overtonedsp.co.uk/download/download_af210/ Realtime FFT Display Analogue modelled filters - correctly replicate the equivalent analogue filter response, ...

Re: J Hendrix Fuzz Face

Would they have the various tubes and transistors in a fairchild 670? @ssj71: There are no transistors in a 670. I've already made a 670 emulation for linux, a few people seem to like it. It also uses an innovative "delay free feedback" algorithm / model which removes the "fictitious...

Re: More fun with transistor circuits

why does it seem that you are the only one working on modeling real anologue hardware. I've been doing that for linux for the last six years or more, I made a few plug-ins too, though I'm not sure how many LinuxMusicians noticed. (Actually I've been doing some form of analogue / digital / DSP / pro...

Re: Muffled jack

What if I want to record and generate 48,000Hz (or even higher) WAVs? You can set jackd to run at whatever samplerate(s) your soundcard is capable of. Any jack compatible application will then record / play at that rate. However, if you think recording at higher sample rates (than 44.1kHz) will gai...

Re: Linux based hardware EQ

Completely the wrong solution if your budget is that limited. Keep it all analogue, the quality will be better. e.g.

If you don't like the shelving frequencies you could adjust component values to taste.

Re: CLAP - CLever Audio Plugin

Thanks for the explanations. I don't quite understand this: linuxdsp wrote: they don't actually run the UI in an external process... (The plug-in's UI "engine" then handles it all in its own UI thread via XLib) @ssj71: What I meant was, my UI code, runs in its own GUI thread, not a separa...

Re: CLAP - CLever Audio Plugin

I can think of some cases where running the UI separately might be a good thing.. @falkTX: The reasons you cite (apart from some aspects of mixing different UI toolkits - and that comes under my original point about the state of the linux graphics stack in general, imposing certain design patterns ...

Re: CLAP - CLever Audio Plugin

Perhaps this is a flaw in my development process, but I always write the complete plugin with only the host generated interface, test and vet it, then create a graphical interface (which in my case is a completely separate binary)... Don't confuse compiling the UI to a separate .so - that's not wha...

Re: CLAP - CLever Audio Plugin

Separating UI and DSP so that you can run the UI in a different process is not inherently safer or better - when you load a plug-in, which is just a shared library, you may as well consider it (simplisticly) to be part of the host application. You wouldn't normally architect an application which has...

Re: CLAP - CLever Audio Plugin

Please take a look at... Yes I'm familiar with that work - but as I said it's kind of a redundant point for me because I don't expect to be doing any future work with LV2 - at least not with the LV2 version of the EQ plug-in I mentioned. There is a much improved version which works just fine as a l...

Re: CLAP - CLever Audio Plugin

..Instance-access is indeed a show-stopper for any out-of-process views (ie. UI's), yes that's completely true. but as long DSP code (model) stays in-process (ie. same address-space) as the UI code (view) there's no problem or disadvantage to it whatsoever. quite the contrary, or rather an academic...
