Re: manjaro and jack autoconnect control absent .. jack or jack2?
i just replaced jack1 with jack2 and yes, then i have the autoconnect option in jackd. also now i can go to 64 samples buffersize with is almost no lag at all. no xruns up to now. all this with a i5 processor with 4 cores and the standard manjaro kernel. nicely done! i highly recommend the RME hdsp ...

manjaro and jack autoconnect control absent .. jack or jack2?
hi all so meanwhile i have switched from ubuntu to manjaro arch based linux and its like day and night. 30% more processing power and she rolls steady as a rock even with the rolling releases. i highly recommend falk to move over to a modern linux like manjaro. i start jack and pulseaudio with a scr...

Re: No more sound after update, probably related to PulseAudio
yes just tried that, same thing. i have to start up pulseaudio from a shell and not from cadence but then no bridge. somehow cadence is not starting up pulse correctly. could this be an ownership problem of the process? im running all this from my account and not root and im in the audio group.

Re: No more sound after update, probably related to PulseAudio
i think i have a related problem so i post it here: after a few updates and a new kernel i had a complete system collapse so i did a fresh xubuntu 18.04 install and pulseaudio was running swell. then i installed cadence out of the repositories and since then pulseaudio doesnt show up at startup. if ...

Re: Low Latency Kernel On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
i was running kxstudio + xubuntu 18.04 with a generic kernel and had all kinds of xruns, midi dropouts etc. i do all my sequencing from pure data patches so midi timing is critical. i just installed the liquorix kernel and it seems it solved all these problems. ill do some more low latency testing a...

Re: running two firewire audio interfaces parallel
If you daisychain firewire devices it's like one device for jack. thats good news! so you mean all the channels will show up in carla automatically? i have to try this ... Synchronizing both soundcards would be useful. I have also described this in "Multiple Soundcards" yes of course. tha...

running two firewire audio interfaces parallel
hi all ... i want to run two different audio interfaces parallel. my trust in linux is unlimited ;-) - rme fireface 800, my main interface already working great via a firewire card with intel chipset - art tubefire8 which will give me 8 tube mic preamps. apparently it is supported according to ffado...

Re: A good jack-compatible audio player who stays connected to the outputs I want?
exactly that is one one of the biggest messups in the linux audio system. i have disables all self connect requests in cadence but audacity ie. always starts up a new jack client with a different name if you start playback. why do developers even bother with jack support if you cant make your own co...

Re: repositories kubuntu 18.04 ready?
so i just installed xubuntu 18.04 and the basics of kxstudio on top of it. i now have jack2, firewire, cadence and carla up and running ... so this is confirmation that this works with the xfce desktop! great work again, falk! you should really consider moving kx to xfce, its such a clean desktop. t...

Re: Dragonfly Hall Reverb
thats is a great project, im just now downloading it ... there is a great need for high end reverbs in linux. i like 80s "primitive" algorithms and mainly use the valhalla reverbs which are based on vintage reverbs and are by far the best software reverbs on the planet. they run fine under...

Re: full update .. no hardware midi devices in carla
that worked. i had to shut down the midi bridge in cadence and then restart it in the shell with "a2jmidid -e" and then the hardware devices show up. thanks again!a2jmidid -e

Re: full update .. no hardware midi devices in carla
If you're going to install something new, if waiting a few days is possible, then consider 18.04 LTS that is coming very soon. good idea, thanks falk! i will do that ... You could try installing a2jmidid if it's not installed already, then run it as ill try that too, thanks. i tried installing avli...

Re: pure data issues
definitely use purr-data! pd-extended is dead and purr has the same extensions and looks a lot better. its a totally different user experience and im doing all my sequencing in it. a few more steps like that and its up there with MAX
