Re: speaker for listening to violin recording?
ok the reason I ask about the tweeters it's because they are way cheaper on top that I am not planning to throw a party at an Olympic stadium. I am concerned about specs adjusted to a violin. For instance, car tweeters, apparently good quality go for $20. That looks pretty good for one's wallet. Mmm...

Re: speaker for listening to violin recording?
"you'll need a whole speaker." Why? I see cheaper tweeters with betters specs: http://nipponamerica.com/car-audio/tweeters?product_id=4318 There's no doubt it'll be powered. But could you tell me why isn't a stand alone tweeter better than a whole speaker? That tweeter above has better spe...

Is this all? Why violin and viola look exactly the same? They only differ in their playing range.

speaker for listening to violin recording?
Hi, Reading wikipedia's entry about violin it has a picture of its sound frequency. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7e/Spectrumgstring.jpg And it seems to show volume as well. Unfortunately that's only the G string, I need the info on ALL strings. I want to pick a tweeter or speaker ...

Re: realistic instruments sound for .mid files?
Mixing jack and alsa midi is not big deal so there is no particular issue with using alsa midi and jack audio. It might be nice if all applications supported jack midi, but they do not, and you can use "a2jmidid -e" to make alsa midi software and hardware appear in jack midi, so effective...

Re: realistic instruments sound for .mid files?
thanks, dis be crazy as hell!! Managed to make some noise. Hidden in paragraphs are little details such as to start jack like this priorily to anything, that is to pick seq midi: jackd -d alsa -X seq Then the confusing mixed use of alsa for MIDI/Input in and jack for Audio/Output in qsampler: MIDI/I...

Re: realistic instruments sound for .mid files?
with alsa I get this error: Error opening PCM device hw:0,0: Device or resource busy I believe because jackd is using alsa. Ok without starting jack and configuring with alsa it does appear in rosegarden but now I don't have sound :/ This is a effing laberyinth!! ports, channels, devices, indexes, b...

Re: realistic instruments sound for .mid files?
I am having troubles playing back a midi file with a gig file under qtractor and in fact with rosegarden. Can someone give me a hand with this? Some guide mentions a2jmidi but that's damn old, I mean resorting to alsa emu. Any pro audio prog in linux land comes with jack support nowadays. The proble...

realistic instruments sound for .mid files?
hello, I loaded a brandenburg 2 1 midi file and to be honest the sound rendition stinks big time. It feels like 8bit videogame sound. My soundfonts are stock FluidR3_GM.sf2. Oddly this file is larger than FluidR3_GS.sf2 which implies better quality but it don't. Apparently size matters because I dow...

fluidsynth goes haywire! how to prevent?
hi, My midi controller is loosing communication randomly. I viewed the logs in qsynth and after normal midi reporting while playing quite fast or pressing a note repeatedly it shows this message: fluidsynth: warning: Failed to allocate a synthesis process. (chan=0,key=59) fluidsynth: warning: Failed...

MIDI drivers mad confusing!!!
hi, Many apps got option for different midi drivers: raw alsa_seq jack In which situation is best to use which one? It's confusing because sometimes they create ports in 'Audio' tab, other times in 'MIDI' tab or 'ALSA' tab. Sometimes in all of them. Performance wise and rule of thumb which driver sh...
