There's nothing stopping you from installing Xubuntu or any other XFCE+Debian/Ubuntu distro and put kx repos on top.

In Candence, in the Pulseaudio section, I had disabled then "Autostart at login" option. Enabling it fixed the problem, now Pulseaudio runs at startup again.
