Re: DISTRHO: New plugins and minor fixing (2014-08-26)

Just a quick note: Your download buttons on the page at "http://distrho.sourceforge.net/ports" say "donwload". Just a small typo, but I figured you might want to know =)

Re: Studio 13.37 v2

My main question with a distro like this is:

What kind of hardware do I need to get my latency down to 0.7 ms? The laptop I use for live stuff probably won't cut it, but I'm interested to see what kind of hardware this occurs on.

If it is reasonably close, I'd invest in it for live use/rehearsal.

Re: Track management in Ardour...

I suppose a lot of people don't understand what it is like to desire over 30variations on effects for a single lead line. Just imagine the amount of time it takes to add individual tracks for all f those, get them routed right, add and effects. Even using track templates and any batch operations, it...

Re: Track management in Ardour...

you can do this with a bus once again..and I suggest to consider using track templates. Let's say that another reason not to use busses is that when I bounce a processed track to a new track, I can then chop up the track, reversing sections.I can't do that with a bus. Also, automating loads of gain...

I'd throw another $20 USD in for anyone that accoplishes these tasks. I am not probably going to use them, but I'd like the option!

I wonder how much that has to do with you using Arch as a base. I'm using standard KXStudio 12.04.

I'll see if i can get a good setup on one of my backup drives....

Re: Donations welcome!

Thanks!! Much appreciated. Would it be nice to add a thank-you note ('This month of LinuxMusicians hosting was brought to you by DoosC') and link to this thread to the frontpage? Could be a nice way to show our appreciation and remind others to donate as well? I think that would be ideal I think. I...

Re: Which limiters are considered to be good?

Limiterrs, even software limiters, all have their own charateristics and use cases. If you want to know what it is good for, I'd have to ask what the purpose is. SWH Fast Lookahead: This sounds clean smooth so long as it isn't limiting a massive peak. This means that if you just need to tame some pe...

Re: LMMS 1.0.0 is finally out

On a brighter note, here's a teaser for LMMS 1.1 on the LMMS forums: https://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/lmms/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1368 The 1.1 release will bring about a fix for an issue that has driven me crazy for a while, particularly fx channel routing. This will make my workflow even easier...

Re: KXStudio in live settings.

We are using the following: Ardour 3 for vocal I/o and processing as well as playback of backing tracks. Drumkv1 stand-alone for samples drums and effects. LMMS to host several instances of ZynADDSubFX since it has tempo aware arpeggiation. Almost all of this is run from my dual core laptop. Not a s...

KXStudio in live settings.

Hey all, Just a heads up that my buddy and I have been using KXS live for DJing and tonight for running our live set. He is wearing a NSFW shirt by the way. He's hilarious like that =) Tonight's performance at Pro Rehearsal in Dallas, TX: https://scontent-a-dfw.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/t1.0-9/10268...

Thanks for making it easy to understand.

Re: Mid/Side processing.

The M/S encoding/decoding is pure simple math, there's nothing that can go wrong (volume boost or stereo image shift) if you do things right. Well there is absolutely a volume boost, even when everything else is set according to documentation. Peak meters don't lie. For all these purposes I use Cal...

Re: audio interface usb

I would recommend NI Komplete Audio 6 which is UAC2 compliant and have 4 analog I/O and S/PDIF. Works out of the box for me I just looked that up. It looks pretty great for the price. How would you rate its performance on Linux? I am wanting to get as low latency as possible. My Scarlett 2i4 has be...
