For me, Reaper is a great app that works beautifully with KXS setup. I understand you don't want mantaining this software anymore, but, Reaper+KXS is a great combination, and , at least, Reaper let you try the app with full features.

Thanks a lot for your response, FalkTx. Finally I couldn't resist instlalling KXStudio from scratch, as what I did before was an Ubuntu installation plus KXS repos.
After a brief test the issues seems to be gone. I'll cross my fingers.
