Re: Rebuilding an Ubuntu Studio system
OK, this is embarrassing. I actually tinkered with this about 6-8 months ago and totally forgot about it. LOL [facepalm] These applications seem to be still available, but I'm open to suggestions for better alternatives... QJackControl Calf Jack Host Jack MIxer VLC B.U.T.T. I need to come up with a ...

Re: Rebuilding an Ubuntu Studio system
Awesome, thank you! I'll whip up a Fedora Jam installation, add the Audinix repo, and start tinkering.

Rebuilding an Ubuntu Studio system
I want to rebuild a system (using current applications) that I had running 2 years ago. The original was built on Ubuntu Studio with the KXstudio repositories.I could continue using Ubuntu Studio but want to explore using Fedora Jam if possible because all my other random boxes are running Fedora. A...

I've got an empty drive that's waiting for the next release of KXStudio. This will be go into a box that currently has KXStudio 14.04 running. Let me know if you want me to do test installs.falkTX wrote:I suspect a new ISO, RC1/stable thing, to be ready within a few weeks.

Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?
Sooo... what's the final verdict? :D After a couple of non-music applicattions needed to be updated but wouldn't run on my system, I realized that my system is still happily chugging along on 14.04. I was able to run those applications using the beta KXStudio ISO, so a KXStudio upgrade is in my futu...

Re: VLC and SMPlayer become sluggish as they're used
I just remembered strace (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strace), so I'll try using that and see what happens.
Perhaps BitMeter (http://devel.tlrmx.org/audio/bitmeter/) will provide some useful info.
What other diagnostic tools might be of use?

VLC and SMPlayer become sluggish as they're used
Greetings, I'm using KXStudio (everything upgraded) and after playing a few video files (karaoke tracks), VLX and SMPlayer become sluggish to respond and eventually stop responding. If I start the media player directly or via the command line, I don't see the sluggishness appear, but I don't see any...

Re: Controling Application Window Placement (KXStudio & NSM)
Aaahhh... it seems that this is the purpose of "nsm-proxy." I'll be looking into that now.hedbug wrote: I do not know about loading specific config files in other other applications.

Re: Controling Application Window Placement (KXStudio & NSM)
In special window settings I had to use the "force" settng, to get the placement and geometry to work. Aaaahhh.... that seems to be the magic I was missing! Thanks!! :D Using "Force" also allowed me to make the Non Mixer window narrower. It defaults to a width suitable for 8 str...

Controling Application Window Placement (KXStudio & NSM)
Greetings, Now that Non Session Mgr. has simplified the set up of my work space, I'm trying to perfect it by controlling the placement of the application windows when they start the first time. I've tried using the KDE "Special Window Settings" and "Special Application Settings" ...

Re: removing audio from a flv file
Or... if you want to convert every FLV within a directory to OGV, try this script. Save this as a file (I named mine flv_to_ogv.sh)... navigate to your directory of FLV's and run the file. BTW... I'm about to look for a "script repository" on this forum so i can donate a few scripts that a...
