Re: Kx as a distrib is over - what next for ubuntu users?
I used a tool called cubic to make my own KXStudio distro (for personal use -- nothing I'd maintain). In essence, I started with Ubuntu, gave it the KDE desktop instead of gnome, added the kxstudio repos, tweaked a couple of other things to my liking ... and generated an install iso. The next time I...

Re: Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no useful pitch correction plugin like Melodyne available ?
It's certainly not optimal, but my workflow is .. Record everything in ardour/linux. Export the vocal tracks individually. Put them on a shared disk. Boot up Windows, use Melodyne (which I love) to tweak. Export results back to share disk. Boot up Linux/Ardour, import the tweaked audio back in. Then...

Re: Jammin....
I use both Windows and Linux for audio. I have Izotope Ozone for Windows and it's very cool and works nicely. But I also have Jamin on my KXStudio Linux box, and that works fine (still). I guess as long as the code will compile okay, we will still have it. I like the compressors, equalizers, limiter...

Re: [ANN] LSP Plugins: 1.2.0 statement
Oh! Now I understand what happened. I have a small monthly payment thing setup for LSP plugins through some intermediary website whose name I have forgotten, and it goes through paypal, and I got some sort of incomprehensible email message from them that boiled down to "sorry, not sending money...

Re: Ardour 6.8 Linux Mint on 2014 MacBook Pro
I'm far from an expert on these things, but I found that installing an audio specific distro (eg ubuntu studio or several others) worked well for tidying up these sorts of crazy issues.

Re: Ideas for Hiding Studio Equipment/Gear
Have you considered building a custom piece of furniture for this? The dimensions needed are standard. You can build it with 2x4s, some 1x2s and some plywood. Get some hinge hardware, some stain and some poly and -- shazam, you have exactly what you need. You can use 1x2s to make rails for sliding i...

Re: Reaper vs Ardour?
DAWs are complicated software. How to do X or Y is not the same in all DAWs, and over time you develop a "workflow" and muscle memory for shortcuts etc. A person who is really good with DAW X can make it do whatever is desired, even if DAW X is not optimized for it. I use a few different D...

Okay this is looking really good so I'm going to pick up a new disk today specifically for installing OpenSuse Leap and then Geekos Daw.

Re: Airwindows Discussion
Thank you for doing that! I've been a fan of Airwindows plugins for a while, and have particularly used DeEss and Channel6. Really great stuff. Hello! I too found myself overwhelmed by the amount of plugins and naming decisions. Thanksfully I found a good spreadsheet that the facebook group was upda...

I can't contribute much technically to the conversation, but what I'll do when I next get a break is download this, compile it, and try it out.
It can't hurt to see how it performs/sounds/works!

Re: Can the Low-Latency & KX Studios various software be installed on Lubuntu?
I just finished building a system with pretty much the works software wise -- kubuntu 19.10, kxstudio, audacity, ardour, mixbus, lmms, the airwindows plugins, jamin, the ddp tools plus some graphics stuff and the low-latency kernel and it all came to less than 16 gigs on the hard drive. I'm also usi...
