My Focusrite Scarlett works fine with Ubuntu Studio - the new realtime kernel has made a big difference - no more JACK xruns!

Ardour problems - uninstall pulseaudio - check in the Jack setup that you have interface / input / output configured correctly. You should be able to see your interface in the list (click on the > box next to the interface drop down. The same goes for input and output. What are you using to input so...

Try uninstalling pulseaudio.

In the Jack settings dialogue box also make sure your have the Interface, Input Device and Output Device correctly selected - click on the button (with the > symbol) to the right of the drop down to see what interfaces are available.

I used to record on Win 95 with Logic - 8 megabytes of RAM and a Sounblaster Live sound card with MIDI daughter board. It used to work quite well (when Windoze wasn't crashing).
