Re: AV Linux moving to MX Linux

In short, I like it. Got me rocking in less than 5 minutes.
Nice that the real thing is almost ready. Some say it is going to be a long winter ...

Re: AV Linux moving to MX Linux

Tried the RC2, first a live session with jack and guitarix and afterwards a full install. Works pretty much right out of the box. Fast and shiny. Managed to get around 6 ms latency and did some recordings using Guitarix+Qtractor+Hydrogen. 1) Easy installer, almost as smooth as Mint/ubuntu. Had some ...

Re: Good bass sound from DI

So many options and so little time... and that convolver approach is really cool.

Re: Good bass sound from DI

Ok I admit it, I got carried away and put the bass aside and started playing guitar (my main instrument) and using the plugin-based approach rather than the embedded guitarix. I will get back to the bass setup when I am done playing around. Guitars: Tokai PRS replica with two humbuckers Yamaha strat...

Re: Good bass sound from DI

Hi, Thanks for the advise. Your default settings makes a smooth bass sound. I was fooling around with some different settings and this generic setup seems to work quite well. (Un)fortunately this plugin approach eliminates the need for guitarix, since I 99% of the time route the signal to qtractor a...

Good bass sound from DI

Anyone with experience with DI recording of bass, and to be more precise: Do you use some wonder-plugin ? I usually use guitarix for both guitar and bass and while I get quite decent sounds using the guitar the bass has a kind of guitar'ish tone. This is not really surprising and works great for som...

Re: My KVR 'What stops you switching to Linux' thread

The usual black / white discussion. Somethings are cool in the Linux sound system, somethings are just tedious. I think the entire JACK-ecosystem is extremely flexible and powerful. For recordings the current linux software is powerful. All the hardware I've used have been supported. What linux need...

Re: April Mixdown

Copenhagen is sunny and warm in this season. A new and final mix for an older song is ready. Has kind of a hangover-lazy-sleepy feel to it . Been listening a lot to Neil Youngs "On the Beach" lately, which may explain the lazy chilled mood. 7 tracks: 2 guitars, 2 basses, hydrogen drum beat...

Re: April Mixdown

Hi Jesse, Thanks for the kind words. These are almost-completed parts from incomplete songs, which in time will turn into full-length tunes (hopefully). This is after all just a hobby without any goals, roadmaps or deadlines. The distorted bass part is taken from a tune, which is close to completion.

Hi, I have compiled some bits and pieces of some early stage work. Recorded using kxstudio, qtractor, qmidiarp, guitarix, hydrogen Poor mixing and soundstage and some glitches may be present - audiophiles may want to seek elsewhere - this is after all just early stage demos. https://soundcloud.com/f...

Re: The Infinite Repeat - Cala Del Aceite

Nice tune, Really nice vocals ( both you and the misses) and very good song writing. I like the lazy summer'ish feel of this tune. Personally I would make it more dreamy /reverb'ish ( think of beach house / moderat ) Respect in finding the time to do this - I am struggling to complete a set of old d...
