You could buy another cheap MIDI interface or audio interface with a MIDI input. There are some problems using the audio signals of two interfaces, but there are no problems at all using multiple interfaces for MIDI in and out.
I have not found an option. Maybe connecting it to jack_mixer is a workaround for you.

Is it possible that you have to set the sample rate on the interface, too? Is there a menu to do this?
