Re: Lazy Preemption "PREEMPT_LAZY" Slated To Land In Linux 6.13
Interesting. But I don't understand. This question has been haunting me for years. How it all works? Who chooses how to work with processes? Is there some manager that says to kernel - this process should be realtime, and this not? How it determines that Ardour, Carla, Qtractos, Stohas and all thei...

Re: Focusrite Scarlett - What's your latency ? (Pipewire blames kernel for problems)
Are Clarett+ posts allowed here? :) I've had similar issues, had problems with audible xruns at 64 and lower. I'm using a shitty 2015-era Thinkpad, though, so that might be a reason. I have a notebook and a desktop PC where it depends on the USB port if I can go lower as bufsize 96. I guess it has ...

Re: [ANN] Qtractor 1.4.0 - A Halloween'24 Release
Highly recommended. Best Qtractor ever.
Workflow: For people experimenting with the arrangement because audio and midi clips can be muted.
Audio: For people working with audio clips there is an improved accuracy when merging audio clips together.

Re: Linux support for Scarlett 4th Gen 16i16, 18i16, and 18i20
This is great, but if the Pipewire or Linux kernel noise issues don't get sorted out for Scarlett's, that's will be the end of continuing buying Focusrite interfaces (for me) . Windows is never a problem, so it's all an ALSA problem ? I own Rednet, 2 x 18i20 and a OctoPre Dynamic but there are seve...

Re: Obituary thread for musicians
Met a nice young lady today named Althea. I said, that's a very cool name. She said 'my parents were diehard Dead fans, and that's where they picked out the name'. Being clueless about most bands, I did a quick search, and found this: https://youtu.be/k9Yz0MC4bkQ She can be lucky that her name is n...

Re: Mixing Corner | run #1 | Big Big Train – “The Transit of Venus Across The Sun”
OK I did it. Spent several hours a day for the last few days, just as much time trying out different plugins and learning new techniques as mixing. Today was an adventure into Airwindows Consolidated. Probably not finished yet; I hear something to change at every listen but one has to stop sometime...

Re: Jack ADDS latency. How to stop this?
Just one thought: Does your DAW compensate the latency partially and shifts the recorded audio in its timeline?
Would Audacity do the same?

Re: Jack ADDS latency. How to stop this?
Are you running JACK in synchronous mode? Check Qjackctl Settings > Use server synchronous mode. Also an interesting read: https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?t=14000 https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?t=17267 Thanks for the links. I did compare before posting and it cut the latency from...

Re: A bedtime (horror) story
Interesting. I've been using cups for decades, but I don't run cups-browsed on any computer. That was never necessary. We only have one (virtual) cups server with 2 configured printers in our household.

Re: guitarix is receving audio input from laptop microphone and not from usb audio card
As far as I understood from this, system:capture is referring to my laptops microphone and I don't see which capture is the audio input from the audio card (where I plug my guitar cable) and that's what I want to do, I want that jack recognizes the input from my guitar cable in the usb audio card. ...

Re: guitarix is receving audio input from laptop microphone and not from usb audio card
Your script is a convenience option that enables Pulseaudio programs to output to and input from jack, e.g. Firefox. Guitarix uses jack so you have to configure jack (in Qjackctl) to use your USB sound card. (If you have Pipewire than I can't help you. It's a bit more complicated with its compatibil...
