For example in ubuntu, you can use a program called 'synaptic' to do this. Software packages also have dependencies, ...

Well, I chose not to do this, because I thought most people
would have the programs installed anyway when they read the text.
Also, I would have to include many more pictures, once I started doing this
(to be consistent), and I thought this would make the site less readable...

Make sure you have "id vol" open in the amp section (when you don't use the mix outputs), and make sure
that the filters are not closed, because they can cut the sound completely.
