Debian-based LibraZiK 4 Studio has been including Ardour 8 for several weeks (or even longer) already: https://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-sit ... nglish.php . LibraZiK works very well on several of my machines.

Re: Routing all sound from Ubuntu Studio to audio interface
If that doesn't work I might experiment with other distros. I've been working with LibraZiK Studio Audio https://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php for several years - it is based on Debian 11 (at the moment), the fastest and most reliable multimedia distribution that I have seen so f...

Re: Recommended software/workflow to start with
I’ve gone back to Debian bookworm running xfce4 as the desktop. It’s a lot faster and no frills, and I can just install stuff as I need it. There is also a debian-based multimedia distribution with a special low-latency kernel called LibraZiK Studio Audio https://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZ...

Re: Routing all sound from Ubuntu Studio to audio interface
If you like to run JACK under UbuntuStudio you might try Cadence https://kx.studio/Applications:Cadence . This is the only way to make it work on my machines which did not wreck my nerves completely. I have no idea why but it has been my experience. Cadence has been available in UbuntuStudio'...

Re: Linux Mint recommended software
Yes I think I would try to do so. (I must admit that I have no experience with scratch music - am an old-fashioned bassman )... It's comfortable that all that Ardour and LibraZiK stuff is free: You can check it out without taking any risk .

Re: Linux Mint recommended software
-Then there's Ardour (free?) As far as I know yes, as soon as you install it from Linux sources. My favourite DAW for professional radio work - and I suppose it should work for podcast production, too. Long ago that I played a bit with Linux mint - but it might be the same like with the debian-base...

Re: Looking for Ubuntu Studio audio production tutor
Just this weekend I found myself playing again a bit with UbuntuStudio - I was never fond of QJackCtl, let alone UbuntuStudio Controls  . I can imagine how you got into trouble. That software really wrecked my nerves and so I never used UbuntuStudio for my audio projects - because I have alway...

Re: What Linux Distribution should I put on my other hard drive partion?
Yes - of course not on an online system.
XP is useful on one of my old reserve notebooks. For example when I work with old Samplitude Silver versions .

Re: What Linux Distribution should I put on my other hard drive partion?
There is even a Linux multimedia distribution for those old machines, based on Debian: it's called TangoStudio, it's available in 64 and 32 bit: https://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/Operating-Systems/Linux-Distributions/Tango-Studio-62532.shtml . A fast and reliable distribution  . I have ex...

Re: Debian based studio distro?
In my radio work LibraZiK has been the most reliable distribution for several years . I'd always recommend it.

Re: trying to find Linux daily driver
On old computers I use to use Debian (10 or 11) LXDE as a daily driver, at times with IceWM also.
For audio stuff AVLinux has run fine on my machines - LibraZiK studio http://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php (Debian-based also) even better.

Re: Recomeneded Distro
In general I'd highly recommend LibraZiK 3 studio http://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php (based on Debian 10). I use it for professional radio work.
It's possible to use WinVST with it, but I haven't tried it yet.
The latter works well under AVLinux using Carla.

Re: No sound with Ubuntu Studio
As for audio problems with UbuntuStudio - I know them pretty well  . Instead of hiring expensive help on this system it might be wise to check out systems like AVLinux http://www.bandshed.net/avlinux/ or LibraZiK 3 Studio http://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php . Both of them a...

Re: KX Studio at the End of Standard Support - what now?
Need a rock solid platform as well, with as little superfluous crap in it to weigh it down. And a proper real time kernel. And all you need quick and easily installed. I need exactly the same  Perhaps you might give LibraZiK 2 studio http://librazik.tuxfamily.org/base-site-LZK/english.php a t...
