Re: Skip the ISO and focus on documentation?

Perhaps falktx and the team might consider using flatpaks at some point in the future, which would mean portability across all the desktop environments.

Re: KXStudio --> to install or not to install? --> Better Options

To get alsa aloop working, make sure snd-aloop module is installed. sudo modprobe snd-aloop To do this permanently, add snd-aloop to /etc/modules or similar (/etc/modules.d/alsa-snd-aloop.conf) Also check /etc/security/limits.d/audio.conf or similar for the memory unlock stuff. I dont' have it to ha...

Re: KXStudio project is currently on a break

I disagree that it would be a separate thread, as I would suspect that perhaps that is what FalkTx will announce, the same strategy as the Ubuntu Studio team. When Desktop Spins became popular there was a really sound way to add some packages to a base install and then burn the new environment as ne...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing

I doubt that falktx won't be reporting on this site as much, I think it more likely that the team are busy working on the release, which seems like it is taking a long time simply because we are anticipating it so much. I, for one, can't wait. If the link is down, I would guess that it is because th...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing

Hey falktx,

Would you be able to provide us with a list of GitHub issue tracker addresses indicating where to report information, perhaps pinned at the top of the forum where we can find it please?

Cheers!

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing

Awww, I just installed and then updated only to be presented with no workable desktop, systemsettings removed or inoperable and kde-module-qml-plasma-kicker. (or something similar) reported as missing when I tried to open the start menu. Everything started fine as normal when I first installed and i...

Script for Installing KXStudio and other launchpad debs on Fedora

Hi, if you like the packages that are available through launchpad for ubuntu, and want to install them on Fedora, then you might like to try out the script that I have just written. It uses the launchpad api to download urls for binaries and then convert them to rpms using alien and rpmbuild. Its no...

Re: Install repos on Fedora

Thanks for that, I've written a script to download packages from launchpad and convert them to rpms for install on fedora. It uses alien and rpmbuild, and I have tested it by installing cadence, cadence tools etc and a few plugins. It seems to work well enough. https://github.com/millerthegorilla/rp...

Github

Hey falktx. You mentioned that you now have an installable kxstudio iso. I wondered if it is available as beta or if there any instructions on how to build one from github,? Also, on the live iso of 18.04 on this site, the user is user number 999 rather than 1000, which I thought was generally reser...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing

What I found was that the /etc/resolv.conf was present and may have permissions issues. If you delete it and then connect, then it is replaced with a valid address containing resolv.conf. If that doesn't work then a symlink to /run/NetworkManager/resolv.conf worked for me. In order to generate the c...

Re: KXStudio 18.04 Testing

Your PPAs are quite mixed in terms of the release that they reference from memory. Should one update the apt sources.lists for the kxstudio packages to reference bionic?

Re: Low Latency Kernel On Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

I would highly recommend not installing a kernel from some unknown source, and building it yourself, if you want a realtime kernel. The low latency kernel can be installed from the apt. Simply type apt-get install linux-lowlatency. The building of a kernel is not difficult, unless you want to modify...

Re: Will kxstudio packages work on a wayland desktop?

I get hacked because I'm in a difficult situation at the moment, on the receiving end of some pretty nasty people. Its not that I'm that knowledgeable about linux but I've been resisting for so long that statistically I was gonna end up spotting it sooner or later. The anonymous X11 socket was intro...

Re: Will kxstudio packages work on a wayland desktop?

I'm running wayland fedora right now and ardour is working fine, but I wonder if the plugins and in particular the kxstudio apps like cadence and carla will work ok. I'm fairly certain its a bit of redundant question since most stuff will probably work, and unless its tested one just wouldn't know. ...
