Penguin Producer - Need a Little Help

I'm currently working on writing an article (and making a video) about the Jack Audio Connection Kit. However, I'm in need of some photos and B-Roll footage to use. Since this is a place for musicians, I was wondering if anyone would be willing to provide me some clips and snaps of their own equipme...

Re: Penguin Producer Redesign

I think you should seriously consider reviving the old articles - you have created a strong brand with those, and even if outdated people will still find them in various search enginges - if the content is kept up, that is. archive.org is nice for those who already know an address and can then dig ...

Re: Penguin Producer Redesign

Okay, here's what I am thinking of... if anyone has any background, I'd love to hear your thoughts. For the main site, I will focus on making it a Mastodon instance. The idea is that this will allow me to combine original articles with content curation in a way that doesn't end up looking like I jus...

Re: Running Wild

Thanks for the review. If it helps, I did make some changes, and posted the results several posts later. Why don't you give it a listen and see what you think? I did take the advice from @spamatica, and did away with the continued pattern, replacing it with more a lot more emphasis using the bass an...

Re: favorite midi sequencer?

MusE is generally my go-to sequencer these days; they both handle all the major needs for sequencing, although each has its advantages. As for MusE, I really like the ability to name and save MIDI clips for later loading; essentially, you can take a sequence clip, save it in a folder as a MIDI file,...

Re: Penguin Producer Redesign

I don't know about the broader media landscape, particularly. As far as the Linux landscape is concerned, then tutorials on how to migrate from Photoshop to GIMP/Glimpse would be really useful, as would tutorials on how to migrate VSTs from Windows to Linux. Even just Windows migration in general. ...

Re: Penguin Producer Redesign

That's fair.

One other thing... While I've got a pretty solid collection of topics to cover, it might not hurt to ask if you have any suggestions for more. Who knows, maybe there's something I'm not aware of that would be beneficial for beginners into the media landscape?

Re: Running Wild

Okay, I figured what went wrong with the previous update... With the ending repetitions, I was starting them on the wrong side of the chord progression. I moved them over, and now the ending sounds much better.

Re: Running Wild

Okay, the updated copy has been posted to Soundcloud, and I think it's much improved. However, there's something not quite right, and I'm not entirely certain what it is, so might as well get some opinions from the experienced on this one...

Seriously? You've never been exposed to Ozzy? You poor thing!

Re: Flatpak - Flathub

The one time I tried to use Flatpak (to use MusE on my old Gentoo system), I found that its sandbox tended to ignore outside plugins. Since I make pretty heavy use of the LSP plugins, as well as Yoshimi and LinuxSampler, I really don't want to use a sandboxed system like Flatpak.

Re: Penguin Producer Redesign

Recently, a number of unpleasant circumstances came together to wipe out the Penguin Producer website content, and I just found out the backups cannot be restored. The site backup at archive.org should provide some use. Why bother when most of that information is out-of-date? Advances in sof...

Re: Running Wild

Music is math. The math parts, I get. It's the vocabulary that can get me, especially when adjectives come into play. Update: I've remade the song, and made some changes to the open, the breaks, and the close. As soon as I have a moment to render it, I'll post it here to see what you guys think... ...

Re: Ennio

The first thing I thought of when I heard the droning and the picking was that this would be at home in a classic U.S. western television show. Then, I heard the steel clanging in the background after what sounded like an intake of breath. This then converted my imagination from a basic western to a...

Re: Running Wild

I'll admit, I am a bit confused. I know enough about music theory to understand a good part of what you're saying, but I'm going to have to do some further research to really get what you're saying. Forget what they say about math, Music is hard!
