Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency
I noticed that nothing in the FAQ appears to specifically prohibit advertising Then they'd be outlawing themselves. Remember "Autumn Street Records - the opensource record label? How long was that ad at the top of the main page? You can still read posts by the moderator/"record label head...

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency
That's hilarious, i2productions. Who needs two monitors for audio work? Multiple workspaces isn't good enough for you? If that's your biggest complaint, then, as far as I'm concerned, you don't have much to complain about. As for you "going all over Internet" slandering me and my distro, y...

My customized IceWM kicks the sh*t out of Unity, and I've received zero complaints about it, only praise.

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency
That's not jwm. It's IceWM, you insensitive clod. As for the latency, of course it's good. It's not as good as Studio 13.37, but it's still better than the rest. And it came out before AV Linux 6 or the newer versions of Ubuntu Studio, etc. But there's always been Puppy Studio 3.3-rt for people to t...

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency
It's totally fair. I didn't know KXStudio would fail when I set out, it just did. All of the distros were tried on the same computer. Like I said ( in the thread where we should actually be discussing this ), if anything I was too fair to KXStudio (in the running-from-hard-drive test, at least) beca...

Re: Distro Comparison, Benchmarking, Latency
Wtf is the "famous hydrogen test"? In my video, Hydrogen was synced with Ardour, and Ardour was recording the output of Hydrogen... a common task in Linux audio. Second of all, the tests were done on a (deliberately) generic computer, with a generic audio card, not fancy external devices. ...

Re: Canceled Audio-Distro Side-by-Side Comparison
I can run EASILY hydrogen and jack with 16 frames/period and 2 periods/buffer on my Arch install qith 0 x-runs, and nothing is loaded to ram. I'm sure I could lower but I haven't tested it. Really? Well, that is something. In my tests I only set the frames/period at 64, but if you can set it lower ...

Re: Forthcoming Audio-Distro Side-by-Side Comparison
Studio 13.37 is apparently based on slackware, which like arch, is noted for lean overhead. Slackware launches/loads a minimal number of daemons and background processes, and sticks closely to upstream code and traditional configuration. Ubuntu does exactly the opposite, and those other distros app...

my product heheh. You know that thousands have been spent on manufacturing, web hosting, and advertising, right? Real money, the kind that you can buy things with. It' s not just talk, I put my money where my mouth is. Even with my bias for KXStudio, in benchmarking, I'm going to make the bold pred...

Re: Forthcoming Audio-Distro Side-by-Side Comparison
The music is certainly annoying enough, which is of course its intention. It was annoying enough for me to shut off the video after two minutes. Can't please everybody, I guess. A lot of people like Ween, though. And I love that song. I'm interested in your work, not you, so at some point I'll give...
