If I were nVidia, knowing the answer to such questions, would be part
of any discussion involving who is given what.

Read, think, post, in that order. Slowpick, these kinds of comments *are* insulting, and if you don't adjust your tone i'm close to doing it for you. This is the 'backstage' forum. Seriously, check out the similar forums in other venues, where 'Read, think, post, in that order', would not even be a...

Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

People are asking a business to modify their successful business plan, to suit THEM. Once it has been repeatedly asked, and repeatedly turned down, it is not helping anyone. To ask the 10th and 20th and 30th times, means you won' stop asking, until you get your way, thus it IS a demand. When people ...

Re: Mighty Car Mods

Looks good for getting amps to the gig, and kids to the soccer field :) Maybe you can share a chip tuned hot rod with your wife, a year or two down the road. An uncle had an old Citroen 2CV http://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2008/06/citroen-2cv.html It was like riding in a lawn chair pulled by a go-cart...

Re: Do I really need an RT(Real Time) kernel

True, we wont the lowest possible latency, but the main goal is a stable time frame, to avoid glitches. Fortunately the needs of the industries covered the needs of audio production in this case, so linux audio benefit from the rt patch set. Using various RT kernels for years, I don't get enough gl...

Re: Do I really need an RT(Real Time) kernel

However, AFAIK their target audience isn't really the pro audio crowd. I think they actually are doing it for controling laser beams, other machinery and stock exchanges. Thats a bit of an awkward statement. They can't really 'target' pro audio, because only a tiny faction of pro audio people use l...

Re: Audacity misbehavin'..

Audacity 2.x sometimes fails to properly clean tmp files here, mentioned in case some notes a similar thing. A nice use for audacity, is to change the playback speed, and record the output in timemachine, useful for some of the jewels and anomalies that sometimes occur, perhaps even better when fast...

Oh, please. He isn't trolling, he merely disagrees with the idea that a company is under an obligation to share their intellectual property. (And that's coming from somebody he disagrees with!) Merely disagreeing and being insulting are completely different things. His metaphors are childish at bes...

Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

The Beatles got a penny for every single they sold in their early days. Later on that went up to a whopping 69 cents. And where did the rest go? Not to the hard working musicians. Who are the freeloaders here? Musicians sign contracts with free will, not always with intelligence. It's a business. U...

She's almost a thread zombie  I can also verify she's never worked at
a Guitar Center within a 500 mile radius of my shack.

Back to business, bfs is another kernel alternative, and works very well
for audio production, and probably other media tasks.

Re: Studio 13.37 YouTube Video

i have not used osX for audio production, but compared to various windows, and mainstream linux versions, Puppy Studio, in its several incarnations is the fastest I have used, and is measured in meg rather than gig, for those finding that bloat, or even coordinated but massive compilations, allow ro...

This is a work-in-progress, feedback is very welcome. thanks! Got some time to test this, made an rpm, and installed in a non KX setup, and it works quite well. Used Native Instruments Reaktor5, and Guitar Rig5, U-he Diva and ZebraCM, which all worked as expected, using symbolic links from their fo...

All we're left with is a bunch of corporate leeches parasitically trying to take a cut of our cultural output via power and unjust laws. You are claiming ownership claiming 'our cultural output', but I submit that Imogen Heap, the Gipsy Kings, and Britney, who create their fair share of cultural ou...

Re: Nvidia why they don't release 3D driver source

acting like they have a responsibility to do so, does seem a bit naive. As far as I can see no-one here is acting like NVIDIA has any responsibility or obligation to release their sources. If the OP did not impute responsibility and obligation to nVidia, the question posed would have been even more...
