Re: Setting up real-time organ playing
I would suggest using AVlinux which is well optimized for audio and comes with lots of audio software. For organ sounds you check out setBfree organ plugin for B3 sounds and aoelus for pipe organ sounds.

Re: Live mixing with Linux - State of the art 2018
Getting x-runs is only weakly affected by processor speed. It is much more a problem of having background processes wake up and do some scan, for example a wifi network scan. So you should disable all unneeded services. Actually, I sort of wonder why people are so obsessed with running at absolutely...

Re: ffado without ALSA
I think you can remove snd_dice from the current session by doing as root "rmmod snd_dice". This should allow you to use ffado in the current session. I don't understand why you are unable to blacklist snd_dice but maybe google can help. You might also try sending an email to ffado-user em...

Re: ffado without ALSA
To blacklist ALSA firewire so you can run FFADO do this: - Add line to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf: blacklist snd_dice - update initramfs and reboot your system: $ update-initramfs -u update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.4.30-rt41-avl2 The "update-initramfs -u" command regene...

Re: [SOLVED] Linux Mint 18.3 : installed lowlatency kernel not running
I'm running Linux Mint 19 and installed the low-latency kernel and it appears as the first grub entry automatically. So maybe behavior is changed since 18.3(?). I installed kxstudio repositories to get all the the audio apps. I find Mint to be a very nice general OS, but not such a good audio machin...

Re: Is the limitation me, or ffado support for my Saffire Pro 24 DSP?
I did some tests with my Saffire Pro24. My test consisted of starting Jack at various settings and playing Pianotoeq with a midi keyboard. This is with AVLinux2018, FFADO driver. Not a definitive test of all functionality, but gives you some idea of the performance. I used 2 periods/buffer for all t...

Re: Is the limitation me, or ffado support for my Saffire Pro 24 DSP?
I have a Saffire Pro24. I use AVLinux2018 which is well configured for pro audio work. The alsa firewire driver does not go lower than 256 frames/period. Could be done but alsa developer has not implemented it. Consequently, I always use ffado which I've gotten to go as low as 32 frames/period. One ...

Re: For those of you that use samplers - do you use GIG?
I use GIG quite a bit. I have several piano libraries from SampleTekk in GIG format, all of which are much better than any open source piano library. Sampletekk discontinued GIG formats a while ago, but some of these pianos are available in SFZ, several of which I have, but the SFZ versions are not ...

I see gsampler has had no updates for 6 years. I might suggest trying qsampler which is actively maintained.

I think the GUI for the Dragonfly reverb is excellent, but it would be cool if you could put an image of a dragonfly on it somewhere.

Re: Focusrite Clarett now on USB! Will it work on Linux?
Just watched the Sweetwater review https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/focusrite-announces-clarett-usb-interfaces . Looks like a nice device, but some critical configuration requires use of Focusrite's Control program, like selecting line vs instrument input to the preamps. Unlikely that this program ...

Re: Focusrite Clarett now on USB! Will it work on Linux?
If it uses the USB2 audio standard (is there a USB3 audio standard?) which is likely since they support iPods which only use USB audio standard. Website does not mention if USB standard is used or not, that I could see. However, the control program will almost certainly not work which could be quite...
