Re: Cadence not seeing jack status on login
This happened to me yesterday and I found a solution. Set 'cadence-session-start --start' to autostart at login, optionally also set 'cadence --minimized'. You can do that on the "System Settings". Is this already handled by running kxstudio-welcome? Or having kxstudio-default-settings in...

Re: Tracktion5 has arrived
When you've downloaded your keyfile just drag'n drop it into the Tracktion window to register it! I have my own personal .tracktionkey file generated at Tracktion's website with my Linux v5 license, but when I drag/drop it into the Tracktion window, nothing happens. After dragging and dropping a do...

Re: Drumkv1
Likewise, with SynthV1, there are no presets out of the box. However, Brian at AmSynth.com has made a few and Autostatic has some for download.

Re: How does one get started making music?
start with LMMS first That's really interesting, I've heard others say that. I've used LMMS before for simple stuff with plugins. Is there anything you think I should focus on before moving back to Qtractor? I could probably do with some more exposure with plugins. For LMMS, I would suggest practic...

Re: How does one get started making music?
Hi! •Are there any Qtractor tutorials that come to mind? I'm really looking for something thorough that will go deep into fully exloiting the software's capabilities. Afaik Qtractor tuts are fragmented and scattered across blogs and YouTube. There is nothing extremely thorough on the end to end but ...

Swing/Groove Quantization in Sequencers (or plugins, apps)
Looking to get a bigger picture of what is available on Linux in terms of groove or swing quantization. When I first started making drum patterns and beats in, say, LMMS, I used pretty straight quantization. I was only going for a traditional house pattern, so I began with kicks on 1 and 3, clap or ...

Re: Any decent DAW on linux?
Here is a list of many Linux DAW's with some of their specifications. My favorite DAW is Qtractor. I use it for composing electronic music with MIDI, samples, automation, etc. Other MIDI friendly software for Linux can be found here. EDIT: With that said, if you would like to go into detail about w...

Re: Carla + DrMr
Drumkv1 is great, I'm sure, for people who have wav files of drums and want to spend the time loading and tweaking. I'm not one of those people. You can find the Hydrogen drumkits and then load the samples into Drumkv1, then save the kits as presets. That's what I did after DrMr caused Qtractor to ...

Brian,
Awesome job you've done so far with the site and ALL the patch banks you've created for AMSynth. I was going through them this weekend and discovered some sounds that really made me Also great names/descriptions for the patches -- easy to remember when I need to go back for more.

Belated greetings from Rochester NY
Hey folks -- I had put this off for a long time but I'm very excited to get back into Linux music and audio after a short hiatus. My name is Rob and I live in Rochester, NY, USA. I have been active in Linux since 2009 or so after having used Mac PC's to accomplish my first forays into electronic mus...
