Re: Help with Sound Device UsbPre and Alsa/Jack
thanks for the advices, I just tried with 3 periods and with 4, but jack won't start. I also used longer buffers, but nothing. I played with alsamixer yesterday, when i got the first "sound" from the device, and there is just one volume control, which seems to work mostly like a switch, un...

Re: Can't select MAudio Mobile Pre Usb in Cadence.
That option is only available if "Duplex Mode" is active and no specifc input and output device has been set. The device list is got from JACK, so maybe JACK can't see it? Thanks falktx, for the quick reply... and for all the things you do for audio on linux! Well, i tried to boot up my p...

[Solved] Can't select MAudio Mobile Pre Usb in Cadence.
Hi, i discovered cadence few days ago and i'm trying to replace qjackctl. It works fine with my laptop's internal soundcard, but it can't see my "m-audio mobile pre" usb soundcard. I go in the Configure->Driver section, select Alsa, but i can't change the Device/Interface option (it's grey...

Re: No LADItray icon in ubuntu maverick (external repos)
an update.
I gave up trying to use ladish since i discovered Cadence by falktx. It's a very nice piece of software, but i'm experiencing other issues with it. But i think this is a matter for another post

No LADItray icon in ubuntu maverick (external repos)
hi, i wanted to try ladish, so i added the ladi team repository (i also have falktx and abogani repos). i followed instructions, added the ppa, installed ladish and laditools. Gladish starts properly, but laditray doesn't. No icon in the system tray. This is what i get if i try launching it in a ter...

Re: linux-lowlatency on ubuntu maverick
That's interesting. Can I install the Liquorix kernel along with the linux lowlatency, even though they are the same version?
And, can i use the debian repository with maverick, or it's better to download the package manually?

linux-lowlatency on ubuntu maverick
I managed to install linux-lowlatency from alessio bogani's ppa. In particular I had to specify to use natty's repository and I had to add the kernel backport ppa for lucid: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kernel-ppa/ppa (since the kernel backports are just for LTS distributions, i had to change the dis...

Re: FA-101 firewire soundcard not working on Ubuntu 10.10
I found the solution here: https://ieee1394.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Juju_Migration#Permissions_and_ownership_for_.2Fdev.2Ffw.2A It is the same thing happening in with raw1394 before Lucid. For now, i didn't try to set udev rules, just performed a "sudo chmod 777 /dev/fw1". Then, i could ...

[Solved] FA-101 soundcard not working on Ubuntu 10.10
hi, I'm trying to make my edirol fa-101 work in ubuntu maverick. It worked fine with lucid, but now i can't even start jack. I know the firewire stack has been changed, and before trying to revert back to the old stack i would like to see if i can make the soundcard work with the new one. I added my...

Hello from the south of italy
hi, i'm athos. i'm a student in sound engineering and a lame musician in the spare time. I have been a linux user for 3 years and i mostly use pure data. Trying to optimize my system for use with a firewire soundcard i noticed that the more you use it, the more you ask from it, so the more you searc...
