Re: Korg Nanopad

Even just having transport controls to hand will make life easier. To be very honest, I actually use the nanoKONTROL for this sole purpose atm. And I assigned the other buttons for muting and soloing tracks. I barely use the faders and knobs. I think I've done the opposite :) I haven't yet bothered...

I'd love to see that in seq24 as well and I hope that Ardour3 will have this
I had another quick look at Ardour3 from SVN over the weekend, and it does indeed have quantize by percentage. Seemed to work just fine, too!

Re: connecting the midi keyboard to Qtractor.

I'd love to see it in Qtractor as well Guess what? Qtractor svn trunk r1739 (qtractor 0.4.7.34+) now has this quantize percentage added on the MIDI clip editor (aka piano-roll) quantize tool (see Tools/Quantize... menu). You may apply this percentage for selected events time and/or duration quantiz...

Re: connecting the midi keyboard to Qtractor.

I think it's a little of both :) What quantizing with a percentage in Rosegarden (and commercial DAWs) does quantize the notes, but instead of snapping them straight to the beat, it moves them only part of the way there. Think of what Qtractor does now as 100% quantization -- it takes the notes, and...

Re: Syncing multifaces in jack1

If you want to install JACK1 from source over the top of your distro packages, you just need to make sure you specify the same install prefix that the packages use when you're configuring the build, like this: ./configure --prefix=/usr The configure script stops you otherwise in an attempt to make s...

Re: seq24 video tutorial

it's not possible to record midi-events? a shame, i liked the silmpicity of seq24. tried qtractor but i don't like the piano-roll nor has it quantize-option. I'm not sure what you mean exactly -- you definitely can record MIDI data from a keyboard in to seq24, and you can quantize it either while r...

seq24 video tutorial

Hi all, Hopefully no-one minds if I drop a link to my new video tutorial to seq24; if you're not sure what seq24 is, or you've tried it briefly in the past and couldn't get past the initial confusion, this should help! I've posted it on my blog, along with a downloadable WebM version, here: http://w...

Re: seq24 volume control vertical bar doesnt work with ams track

This is just a guess, but is your patch in AMS set up to be velocity-sensitive? I'm not overly familiar with AMS, but most modular synthesis systems require you to explicitly patch in things like velocity sensitivity.

Re: favorite midi sequencer?

I tend to think of Qtractor as my sequencer of choice, but it's seq24 I use most often -- it's a lot of fun, and you can bring a song together very quickly with it. It seems quite odd at first, but it's really quite simple once you get in to it; I'm currently working on some tutorial videos that'll ...

Howdy!

Hi all, I've been checking out this forum every now and then for a while, but I figured that I should finally just sign up and be done with it :) I've been making electronic music under Linux for about 18 months now -- some of you may know me as "lsd' on the #opensourcemusicians IRC channel, or...
