Re: Tips for using lowlatency/realtime kernels
[quote="falkTX"]... I really appreciate your posts, it helps me understand how users see KXStudio (most of them only talk when it's time to report or complain )..../quote] That's right, so please let me mention that I just installed Ubuntu Studio and KXstudio and I'm happily playing a...

Re: Noob wants advice on Ubuntu + MIDI keyboard
I've got a M-audio Keyrig 49 as well. It has worked nicely on many OS'es and distros.

Re: Cadence Alpha 1 released
Thanks for the explanations. This looks really useful, and I look forward to exploring these tools. A windows version of Catia might be a godsend to many audio frustrated windows 7 users. I for one would try it out. An introduction video would be useful. A tutorial on how to get your MIDI over USB p...

Re: Cadence Alpha 1 released
Thanks. That looks very useful. I tried it out, but ran in to some issues. Some of them are undoubtedly newbie questions that I ought to have figured out by myself, but I believe they give a good insight into the novice user's frustrations, so here goes. Is it all JACK2? And if so, when I install it...

Re: SOS I need a ROCK SOLID distro!
Hi, I'd be genuinely interested to know what was so bad about AV Linux? It has NO pulseaudio at all and doesn't push updates on you that you don't want or need. As far as Gnome 2 or whatever is it really that important ?, once the application is open and running who cares what the D.E. is...Gnome 2...

Re: SOS I need a ROCK SOLID distro!
I feel the same. There's so much I could do with Linux, if only I could get it to work. Right now I am trying for the tenth (or thereabout) time to install a Linux distribution and getting it to function. All the time I am getting distracted by things like (as you mention) the laptop freezing after ...

Re: KXStudio 10.04.1 is out!
---<snip>--- Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it. But I'll take a break from setting up Linux audio. It's been a slightly frustrating process and I need to focus on other things for a while. Still, of all the linux audio distros, KXStudio is the one that appeals most to me, so I expect to give it ...

Re: KXStudio 10.04.1 is out!
Thanks for the suggestion. I looked in alsamixer but I couldn't see an option to set the capture source. Are you sure that can be done in alsamixer? All I had was the option to adjust volume and mute various channels. Have you pressed the TAB key so you can access the capture levels? Yes, that does...

Re: KXStudio 10.04.1 is out!
FalkTX, Grep I read the release notes and tried to follow them in their description of how to start Jack1. I could start Jack1 from the terminal, but I don't know what the piece "set the jackd binary to "/opt/jack1/bin/jackd"" implies. Where and how do you set that? Is it the te...

Re: KXStudio 10.04.1 is out!
@alexoest: Are you sure you have the mic input set as the capture source (and enabled) - perhaps check using alsamixer? I had some very similar issues (with jack1) where I would get xruns (I could get rid of them by running jack in playback only, which was fine for my needs) - but the problem actua...

Re: KXStudio 10.04.1 is out!
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm using an internal SB Audigy card, so I don't know if firewire has anything to do with it. BTW, after changing the buffer parameter I can start Jack, but I've got several xruns per second, so I might have solved one problem but created another. Alex @alexoest: it seem...
