Re: Anyone remember a music program called M ?

I remember M! Very cool program. I also had a rhythm thing from Intelligent Music that was nifty, but I can't remember what that one was called. Those and Dr T's KCS were my MIDI tools of choice during my first brush with desktop music making. It was an exciting time, when developers seemed determin...

Re: Some Studio Pictures

Capoeira: That's not actually a Moog modular system, but a system built primarily from Synthesizers.com modules, along with a number of STG Soundlabs modules and a bunch of DIY modules from YuSynth, Blacet and various home-brew designs. It's changing even now, with the sequencer in the top-left corn...

Re: Top 10

It fluctuates all of the time, and my favorite artists are not necessarily those that I can listen to most often (because their stuff demands my full attention). In no particular order: Legendary Pink Dots Bowie Pink Floyd The Beatles Gary Numan Tangerine Dream Skinny Puppy The Virgin Prunes The Sis...

Re: The Collector

Never tried Har-bal. I've heard good things (but I cringe every time I see the name. Y'see, my guitarist is named... "Har"!), but I have no first hand experience with it. I haven't settled on any new mastering tools since selling my beloved PowerCore when I ditched my old PowerMac. However...

Re: début: The Tribe

I quite liked that tune. The sounds were all well-chosen and it has a good atmosphere. If I had to compare it to anything, I would have said it sounded like some of Ian Boddy's stuff or even maybe even Tangerine Dream.

Re: Frontier Designs Tranzport

Thanks Pablo, I will do that! (but only I after I finish my current project. I don't want to build a new version of Ardour and screw up the song I am working on)

Frontier Designs Tranzport

I've been banging my head on the wall over this one. I have a Frontier Designs Tranzport and am trying to get it to work with Ardour in Ubuntu Studio 9.10. It would seem that the instructions in the Ardour manual are out-of-date and no longer apply. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a solution... I...

Slacker G: I just checked out your video clips and I am floored. That is some terrific playing!

Re: ... and hello from not-so-rural Kansas

Wow, a Memorymoog is a seriously desirable instrument! I always wanted one of those. I dig fusion as well (though I'd never be good enough at it for it to influence my music) and like a lot of filmic things. That kind of thing doesn't pop up too much in the music of Christus and the Cosmonaughts, ot...

Thanks Zen:Core. Likewise if you ever head down this direction. Given the nature of my work, I'm always home!

Re: ... and hello from not-so-rural Kansas

Thanks. Yes, I earn my living writing about music production, synthesis, and doing sound design. It's a good (if somewhat solitary) life! It has allowed me to be at home with my son as he has grown up, which is quite nice.

Re: ... and hello from not-so-rural Kansas

Thanks studio32. I am sure you guys will have more to teach me than I could hope to offer. I have had Linux machines running in both my studio and in my "office" upstairs (I even wrote a couple of lengthy tutorial articles about it for Computer Music magazine), but I have only now begun to...
