Best,

I had to choose drinking or driving. It's not my fault.

Re: Kernel 2.6.36 - A true musicians Kernel ?

On my new computer I tried the stock 2.6.36 ARCH kernel with my fast track pro soundcard and couldn't get it to run without xruns like with my old computer. Haven't tried with rt kernel yet though.

Re: Audio Interface for Guitar/Mic?

Check http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Matrix:Main before you buy new soundcard for linux. For firewire devices http://www.ffado.org/ . I have Fast Track Pro (usb device). It is not so expensive and has also phantom power. But it only works 16-bit in linux. It is an ok device for its price...

Re: My next cga::studio (please sound card advise!)

Well I dont want to steal your post but I've come to conclusion that I will either buy a new focusrite saffire pro 24 or used RME multiface with the PCI card. I think I will most definately buy the multiface if one comes available within a month or so. Seems like the best solution for my budget. I c...

Re: My next cga::studio (please sound card advise!)

That's quite a nice computer. Im in the same situation as you allthough my computer is not gonna be as good as yours. I've been looking for a soundcard too, but I don't have the money for a really good one yet. :) If I had the money and ffado supported it (they are planning to), I would buy RME Fire...

Re: Can anyone help with recording using M-Audio Fast Track Pro

If you use qjackctl put hw:Pro,0 to interface and hw:Pro,1 to output device I think. Can't check this now 'cause im not home. Then make the connections.

xorg 1.9 + dual monitors + xinerama + qt app = crash

Xorg 1.9 crashes if you happen to be using xinerama. Don't upgrade if you need it. Can't start any qt apps.. qjackctl for example.

Re: Fedora/CCRMA | AV-Studio | Musix | 64studio | Puredyne | KXS

Hi. I've only tried AV Linux of those mentioned and it was very good out-of-the-box studio. Everything worked just great. It only has 32bit version but has a custom kernel that allows more than 4Gb RAM. I really liked it but I wanted 64bit. 64 studio is a bit outdated but could work depending what y...

Re: cpu frequency scaling

If you put those lines in rc.local then you don't need sudo. And maybe it might be better in your case to disable the ondemand service altogether since you're using rc.local to change the settings system-wide. And I've ran into that issue too that even though I had set my CPU's to performance they ...
