I have a graphical pci express slot on my mobo. I'll get details later on this but there was a conflict between that and the card installed. You'll have to connect your Ubuntu machine to the Internet in order to follow laba170's instructions. Have you downloaded and studied the manual for your ASUS motherboard? (Some 'boards have their design quirks.) You mentioned removing the CMOS battery. Did you clear the CMOS by shorting out its jumper as well? Are you overclocking your machine? Have you tried resetting the BIOS to its default value...
