Re: Getting started with a DAW in Linux

This is amazing...
Take a deep breath and go read https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/kind-communication.html more carefully.

EDIT: I am tired of deleting posts by now...
As my last action on this forum, I will ban 42low for the good of all other people here.

Re: MOD Devices sponsors Linuxmusicians.com

Suppose I make the bottom-right shout-out a little less conspicuous and we group the content as I described in this post, would that still feel dirty/unwelcome? If it is seen on unrelated pages, yes. No need to downplay the promotion/advertising. This is how it starts. A small thing here and there,...

Re: MOD Devices sponsors Linuxmusicians.com

I've always been transparent about costs, and indeed they're very modest. I just feel it is more sustainable and reasonable to have them covered by a commercial entity rather than calling upon the community for this. Because the costs are so modest we don't have to be too dependent on the sponsor, ...

Re: MOD Devices sponsors Linuxmusicians.com

Going to be as direct as I can be here, no joke. How much are the costs here? I am willing to pay it all from now on if it means taking advertising off here. I really hate it, and don't want to see it in things I personally use. Either that, or don't count on me moderating this forum anymore. PS: Le...

Re: Calf plugins in Carla losing settings

Known issue, has been reported at https://github.com/falkTX/Carla/issues/753
I will see if I can fix it soon, if not, I will just have to disable bridges for calf plugins and hope for the best...

Re: How to use Carla + MT drum power kit + Native Reaper?

It depends if you want to use Linux or windows plugins. If going for windows plugins, then it is better to just use the windows version of reaper in the first place. For linux plugins, on reaper I guess you can just scan for plugins (using the native Linux version of reaper) and they work as expecte...

Re: How to use Carla + MT drum power kit + Native Reaper?

Should be as simple as loading carla inside reaper, and then your wanted plugins inside carla I guess.
If you are going for windows bridges, dont forget to enable the experimental options, and then the plugins+wine bridges too.

Re: Package updates in the KXStudio repositories

I decided to revert the decision on the locking :P We need a way to know when new stuff is added. Updates for existing packages are often easy to do, dont need much mentioning. Unless it is a big bump, like muse 2=>3 and LMMS, where the way to build them changed quite a bit... In any case, 2 new pac...

Re: seq64

why is that not the default?

in any case, the sequencer64 package is in the repos now.
I managed to make it build on 14.04, but then it crashes on start, so I won't push it for non-gcc5 repos after all.

Re: Windows vst routing for dummy humans

I think it's pretty clear that at least there were many problems in running Windows plugins in Linux using all conceivable approaches, which should by now entirely all be a thing of the past . No, this will never be the case. The fact that most work is a great thing, but it will never be a solved p...

Re: Windows vst routing for dummy humans

The windows bridges are experimental settings in carla, so you need to enable those first.

Re: seq64

I have a deb package ready for >= 16.04/gcc5 systems, but I want to see if I can make it build with older distros too.
Same for adlplug.

Re: Windows vst routing for dummy humans

it is much easier to just use a wrapper plugin, no? is there a special reason for festige? it does not even keep plugin state.
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiaWozQ69eE

(note that since that video was made, users now need to enable experimental settings, plus plugin and wine bridges in carla)
