Re: which linux is best

i've been using the standard Ubuntu LTS versions, current one is Lynx i think. i can't be bothered to upgrade every 6 months and risk having something break on me. believe it or not, a realtime kernel isn't required to access realtime functionality. i guess "best" is whatever you feel most...

Re: Sound quality puzzle/problem

are you playbacking the amplug directly to the speakers (speaker plug to the amplug), or are you routing through the line-in (or even worse: mic-input, that'd kill any quality for any signal) of the computer, and then via direct play-through (through the soundcard) to the speakers connected to the ...

Re: Sound quality puzzle/problem

no, they both sound muddy plugged straight into the speakers.

yeah, i have recorded with the Amplug and played that back sounding just fine.

both of them sound better after being recorded and played back.
i'm not doing any additional processing in Ardour either.

Sound quality puzzle/problem

Re: Revalver III fonts in WINE

thanks for the replies. i already have the M$ fonts installed. Pablo, that seemed to have worked pretty well. the fonts are now readable, thank you. it still lags a little when turning the knobs in the program. but i get the feeling this is either inherited with using WINE, or it's meant to do that.

Revalver III fonts in WINE

hey, i hope this is in the right place. i got Revalver III by peavey, and installed it in WINE on my Ubuntu Studio 9.10 laptop. it seems to be working fine sonically, but the GUI is a bit laggy and, more annoyingly, some fonts aren't rendered very well. i have a feeling this is due to the WINE layer...
