Re: Everybody has to post something sometime

Hey there, I'm woefully behind down here in the musicians basement and have some catching up to do but glad I didn't miss this! This song is great! Great Indie pop arrangement that doesn't conform to the current anti-competence trend in so much modern Indie. Great sounds, and the lyrics and vocals a...

Re: [ANN] qpwgraph v0.7.0 - A Spring'24 Beta Release

I kind of dread the eventually inevitable switch to Pipewire, but it's great that a qjackctl equivalent is already being developed. That will no doubt facilitate the transition a lot. If you want to visit a working PipeWire Audio setup try a Live boot of the latest AV Linux, not to switch Distros o...

Re: CALF plugins?

but Calf Reverb is one of the worst reverb plugin in the open source world That is highly subjective, any effect that isn't what sounds right for your intended application is the "wrong" effect... no need to get into the pointless better/worse game... For many people migrating to Linux es...

Re: EZDrummer alternative?

If it were me, I'd just stay within your host and use native plugins Apisonic Labs' Speedrum 2 or TAL-Drum, or DrumGizmo, along midi drum patterns and the sampled drums of your choice. I like to use Groove Monkee midi drum patterns and Drum Drops drum samples, but there's lots to choose from. To me...

Re: EZDrummer alternative?

Hi bulevardi Another option that I use (as an Ardour with ALSA person). I love Hydrogen to get drum tracks together and in the case of AVL Drumkits I can use the Hydrogen version of an AVL kit in Hydrogen and program 99% of my song sequence and then export it as a MIDI file from Hydrogen. Then I imp...

Re: AV Linux Backlight and desktop

Hi,

Are you booting with systemd or sysvinit? Enlightenment is geared to systemd and backlight stuff seems to generally work better with systemd.

There is also a backlight module you can enable for more control.

As far as the Windows off the edge thing, that is a quirk, Alt-drag will move them.

Are CPU's set to performance mode?

If nothing has been changed AVL always comes with performance set by default.

Re: AVL MXE 21.3 and Qtractor - getting lots of XRuns

Well off the top of my head Intel Audio chipsets are pretty cranky and aren't really geared to Pro Audio work, I haven't used one for many years but if I recall some tricks.. Try setting the Intel HDA to playback only (unless you need to record Audio). If the buffers are set at '2' try increasing th...

Re: AVL MXE 21.3 and Qtractor - getting lots of XRuns

Well, what is your Audio interface? What are your buffer and frames per period settings? What Plugins are in use? How much free memory is there? I don't care what DAW it is if you're running over 90% CPU with transport engaged it's gonna get ugly..

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.2 ISO update released!

I believe Ventoy recently was having issues with newer Kernels which may explain why your USB keys weren't booting AVL 23.2.. Admittedly this is just a shot in the dark.. Can confirm. I just tried to install OpenSuse Tumbleweed from Ventoy and it failed, whereas it worked perfectly when I wrote the...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.2 ISO update released!

Hi, Tippe Yes it uses the former JACK | PulseAudio | pajackconnect Audio setup... Some people seem to have the idea that I abandoned that for PipeWire, it was not an easy decision to make and it still works well. PipeWire is the current state of the art and the future so I got onboard and it is quic...
