Loomer Aspect 2 Synth. Free license upgrade!
Hi, There is an update to Loomer's great Aspect synth, as a synth-illiterate person I have found Aspect to be my go-to when synth need arises because of the excellent presets. Incredibly if you already own Aspect you can get a free Aspect 2 license merely by contacting the developer. I took advantag...

Re: Out of My Sight - Melodic Metal
Hi tavasti, Great job! I'm not a metal person per se but the feeling and mood of this production was very impressive. I do prefer this quasi-theatrical combo of synths and heavy guitar over death/doom metal genres and I thought the combo of the music, mix, video and the tremendous vocals made for a ...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.2 icons disappeared
The animations are baked into the Enlightenment theme and can't be turned off. I also find the animations distracting. It seems the option to disable them has been implemented in at least one other Enlightenment OS: https://bodhilinux.boards.net/thread/49/new-ibar-feature Any chance this can be por...

Updated AV Linux Utilities
There are some updates to the AV Linux utilities, these will likely also work on any Debian Bookworm system and possibly Ubuntu as well:

If you try them outside of AV Linux I'd be interested to know if they work.. ![]()

Re: General Pipewire setup tips?
@magill
Cool utility! I just tried it in AV Linux (Based on Debian Bookworm) and in my case to run it I had to use this command:
Code: Select all
python3 Cable.pyIn case any other Debian/'buntu Users give it a try

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.2 icons disappeared
I used xfce and now with enlightenment I often get lost.Is It also possible to configure the icons without the animation? Thanks Yes, they are quite different. The animations are baked into the Enlightenment theme and can't be turned off. Just be aware that even with the animations Enlightenment is...

Re: AV Linux MX Edition 23.2 icons disappeared
Good evening, i'm new, and new with AV Linux MX Edition 23.2. The first problem I have is that a lot of icons are disappeared: all the application buttons in the lower horizontal panel (firefox, thunar etc.); in the vertical one, on board, if I try to insert a new launcher, it give the link but not ...

Re: AVL-MXE 23.2: Set soundcard buffer size
I know MuSE and Qtractor don't do ALSA... Even if they did do ALSA, if the soundcard is reserved by Ardour / Mixbus then they wouldn't find any audio outputs, right? Well yes, if you're running them all at the same time.. I was referring to them if they were being used in place of another DAW. If t...

Re: AVL-MXE 23.2: Set soundcard buffer size
Otoh, just selecting "alsa" as a backend in your DAW, on a pipewire system, doesn't seem to give direct access to alsa at all. If installed, pipewire-alsa will be the actual backend, and will interpret any alsa settings done in the DAW in its own way. At least, that's what my fluidsynth e...

Re: AVL-MXE 23.2: Set soundcard buffer size
I know MuSE and Qtractor don't do ALSA... I hope they will both rethink that in the future[..]We will always need and have the underlying ALSA regardless of what runs on top of it so to me it makes sense to put the emphasis on utilizing that. Otoh, just selecting "alsa" as a backend in yo...

Re: AVL-MXE 23.2: Set soundcard buffer size
Impostor Thanks for the explanation.. All of this confirms to me that the best I can do with a generic PipeWire setup is what I've done... IRQ threading, the usual RTCQS tweaks, linking the system for JACK calls and providing a metadata frontend. Stuff beyond that seems to quickly dive into a 'per-...

Re: AVL-MXE 23.2: Set soundcard buffer size
Alsa buffer size and pipewire quantum are not the same thing. Maybe you are confusing the two? ~$ pw-dump | grep 'api.alsa.period.*": ' "api.alsa.period-num": 32, "api.alsa.period-size": 1024, So my alsa buffer size is apparently 32*1024. This seems to be a fixed size, rega...

Re: AVL-MXE 23.2: Set soundcard buffer size
I'm still confused about your issue.. Here I have used the AVL metadata utility and set the quantum to 512 and the samplerate to 44100. When I open Ardour it connects to JACK/Pipewire at 512/44100 which is what I would expect it to do.. Mixbus would behave exactly the same. http://bandshed.net/image...

Re: AVL-MXE 23.2: Set soundcard buffer size
Hi @GMaq, system is a HP Z2 G9 desktop with onboard UHD graphics and a RME HDSPe AIO Pro PCIe card using the recently developed driver for it. My DAW is Mixbus and so far it seems to be working just fine with the ALSA backend. I do find it a pity though that if I commit to exclusively reserving the...
