Re: Let's finance LMMS full-time development
Louigi, At least right now, I can spend around 10-15hrs a week, this is in my spare-time. I could probably trim out 10hrs or so from my job every now and then if I had compensation. I couldn't just go on a one-month hiatus. At least, I'd be afraid of my job "vanishing" when I come back. BT...

Re: A fresh start for LMMS
Hi all, Thanks for the first wave of responses! To answer a few specifics: LMMS was based on the original FL I think, right Paul? I don't know how close you wanna get to that but something like FL studio is really needed for Linux.. Correct it is based on FL. I agree something like FL Studio is need...

Re: A fresh start for LMMS
Yay. Our first response. I will check back on this thread every couple days to gather ideas and direct the conversation. I'll try to maintain a list of the currently accepted ideas. The great thing is - non-programmers are the most valuable resource to me right now. We need ideas from users who actu...

Users - a chance to make your voice heard!
This is for all users of Audio Software. If you have things you love about software you've used, things you hate about software you've used, or simply brand new ideas, then read on. I am a developer of the LMMS project. Due to issues with the structure of the project I am beginning a new initiative....

Re: LMMS Issue #2 unpacking .mmpz files into an editable archive
By the way, LMMS has an upgrade feature, and if I remember correctly, it is capable of saving out to the uncompressed format. Try:
The mmp file should be an upgraded, unzipped version of the project.
Code: Select all
lmms --upgrade myFile.mmpz myFile.mmp

A fresh start for LMMS
Hello everyone, this is Paul Giblock (pgib) from the LMMS project. As you know, LMMS is quite old. Also, it has several issues related to performance, reliability, and JACK support. LMMS's core is fairly old, undocumented, and tightly coupled. This makes it exceedingly difficult for me to add more f...

Re: LMMS 0.4.6 released
This is Paul Giblock, an LMMS developer. Let me make a few points absolutely clear. Toby and I use Linux as our OS of choice. LMMS is not becoming WMMS or anything like that, so please don't make such rash conclusions. We are not saying that JACK support is unwanted. We are people with real lives wh...

Re: Let's finance LMMS full-time development
Please wait until I' confirm everything on Monday. I need to make sure I can take that much time off at once. Maybe it will be one week on, one week off, etc.. Or perhaps 20hrs/wk of both for a month. Also, I need to double check everything and make sure I am considering insurance, tax, other things...

Re: Let's finance LMMS full-time development
Louigi, sorry I got pulled into a few things the last few days. First off, Paul - please do calculate the costs of two weeks work - I want to understand at what kind of money are we looking at. 80 hours.. we are probably talking about 2100USD we can work out specifics later. Third - addressed donati...

Re: Let's finance LMMS full-time development
Hey, guys! Let's not turn this thread into personal flaming and focus on the subject please. Paul, great, that is a good thing that you would be willing to take a couple of weeks off. Then now what we all need to know is the goal - the amount of money needed for, say, those two weeks. Yes, as well ...

Re: Let's finance LMMS full-time development
@ Paul, but if someone is having a plan (in line with GPL license) and discussing it with you, which could even benefit the income of LMMS, you scream "murder and fire", jump to a forum board right away and telling that man is evil... http://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=153...

Re: Let's finance LMMS full-time development
Hey guys. I am Paul Giblock and I am an LMMS developer. As I've told people before, If I can get sponsored, I would take time off of work to focus on LMMS. I am not willing to quit my job to work on LMMS, that is because there is no steady income stream. However, If I could affort to take 2 weeks of...

Re: Beat Machine Pro and LMMS????
For what it's worth, Beat Machine Pro failed. So now we are back to just LMMS. Yay! Except, now someone else is wanting to pull the same stunt.
