Re: key of G# major?
what's the point or the difference? I suspect they added them in both variations just so people who search for G# major will also get search results... but indeed I don't suspect there will be many ;). Perhaps they have some automatic transposition going on that makes it easy to upload the track in...

Re: MIDI pitch to CC - Akai MIDIMIX Button Event Routing
Does anyone know of a way to reroute MIDI pitch data to CC controls? I guess being able to filter these out would also be a boon I've used PureData for these kinds of things in the past - but that's probably overkill. I think mididings should be able to do this (but I don't think I have used it mys...

Re: Between Fire And Ice
While I definitely agree we should encourage sharing non-paywalled links, I think we should probably not do that by having a 'rule', but rather just lead by example and recommend good alternatives.

Re: JACK is Hannibal Lector with an ear fetish
JACK was the best, while not perfect, thing that was developed in the Linux audio world. The reason that it is not the standard today is very simple: The author did not work for any of the commercial linux vendors (SUSe/Redhat), so they cannot control its development. I don't think this is true. JA...

Re: JACK is Hannibal Lector with an ear fetish
You set EDrummer to use ALSA, then recorded the room sound of you tapping a key on your PC, and the sound waves coming out of your speakers. Wait, you got it backwards: I first looked at the code and saw you were comparing 'number of bytes' to 'number of frames' - which (at 4 bytes per frame) would...

Re: A plugin to display notes on staff and identify chords?
Does anyone know of a plugin that displays inbound midi on a staff and identifies chords? The idea is... feed in some midi and see in real time the current notes displayed on a staff and the name of the chord produced by them. Just what's being played now, not something that builds a score from wha...

Re: JACK is Hannibal Lector with an ear fetish
I dislike that you choose to present this as a personal attack on the author(s) of the software, rather than a critique of the software itself. added latency I'm not convinced of this 'added latency' you keep talking about with JACK. While it is true the machinery in JACK (notably the context switch...

Re: Non-Session-Manager fork descalation
1) If you don't want anyone to make money off of your code, don't give it a BSD license. 2) If you don't want anyone to modify (and distribute the mods) of your code, don't license it GPL. The entire point of the GPL is to allow anyone to modify the source whichever way suits his purposes. Forking ...

Re: A linux musician's video meeting?
why not open a Discord channel? and use that as a central meeting place I wouldn't be a huge fan of promoting a closed service such as Discord TBQH. What would be the advantage over an open channel in https://fairmeeting.net/alinuxmusiciansvideomeeting ? I guess it's more convenient when you're alr...

Re: 'Thanks for posts' plugin for phpBB3
Apparently the plugin was since updated to support phpbb 3.3.0, so I've installed it.
Let's give it a try and evaluate if we want to keep it after a while.
