Re: Changing SF to Pizz Stac or Sus

with Rosegarden, I have a string part which wants to go from sus to pizz for example - and I put that in as a notation change but would love to link it to a patch change as well. Could that be done in Rosegarden with the features described at http://rosegarden.sourceforge.net/tutorial/en/chapter-7....

Cheap tablet/ereader for sheet music

I'm considering getting a cheap tablet/ereader for sheet music - that could potentially be more convenient than lugging around folders of paper. This is just a bit of fun, so I'm looking to spend up to 100 bucks on it. Second-hand/refurbished is fine. Ideally a big display, though it doesn't need to...

Re: Do you want more people to use Linux for music?

are you sure? Have you thought it through? There are different levels of experience and ability. Yes, I would like more people to use Linux for music. I don't care about levels of experience nor ability. I do care about mindset: I'm not too interested in 'consumer mindset' users, but would love to ...

Re: Analysis: drifting hardware latency leads to XRun

I've been able to solve the drifting problem with the Audiofire. Nice! I had previously been able to get the 1394 light on when starting ffado-dbus-server using sudo, that light would remain on even after I had quit the ffado-dbus-server, which I believe to be false. Aahh tricky I'm grateful to be ...

Yeah, I figured as much but it wasn't completely clear and it didn't seem like a particularly good joke so I assumed you wouldn't mind if I removed the post ;).

Re: Gah....

What the idiots have done is beyond belief. (...) I wouldn't be surprised if falktx didn't take time out in frustration. A common reason for open source maintainers to burn out is when users act entitled and even call them names in public - like you just did. Please don't, nobody deserves that. By ...

Really good news! Great, Raboof.. I'll give a look ASAP..

I can load scores, but I haven't really gotten any recognizable audio from it yet ;).

Re: Anyone able to build Algoscore recently?

I did some more digging. Seems AlgoScore at some point lived at sourceforge, then moved to Gna. Gna is discontinued, but I was able to recover some slightly newer sources and history from the dump at https://archive.org/details/Gna_code_hosting. Converted them to git and shared them at https://githu...

Re: Freeware alternative for SynthEdit?

I guess it is interesting to answer the question why pd-extended got abandoned. Was it because there was no interest anymore since people just left? I almost can't imagine it. I don't know either but Pd is a small project by one man I think and Pd-extended might have been developed and maintained b...

Re: Freeware alternative for SynthEdit?

Pd Vanilla was nowhere near as popular as Pd-extended. Back in the day they didn't bother to make a patch and all the extensions it needs in one, because all the extensions were already in Pd-extendend. This is of course true. I guess it is interesting to answer the question why pd-extended got aba...

Re: Freeware alternative for SynthEdit?

This means that you do not know if the patches that you made, that have cost you blood sweat and tears, will still work in a year or two time. At the time people loved Pd-extended, just like you love Purrdata. Well, the patches that they made in Pd-extended do not work anymore. Did you create any s...

Re: Anyone able to build Algoscore recently?

Hi there, I had a full spare afternoon and I attacked the problem of building Algoscore again. My driver is just "curiosity". I finally was been able to build it with some editing of Cmake stuff (read: nightmare). In practise I disabled the CSound output (the program is strictly "lin...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs

I can run heckbench to bring the CPU load to 90% and I don´t get any xruns, but just opening the bowser causes xruns while the CPU is shortly increasing to 80% or so. I think someone already mentioned perhaps this may be related to your video driver or video acceleration, or perhaps networking stac...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs

cpu governor performance does not need to be the best solution. performance sets the cpu to the highest turbo-boost speed. Being turbo-boost, this is a clock speed that the cpu cannot hold for a longer time. Thanks a lot for your research in https://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=19865...

Re: Standard test needed to benchmark XRUNs

if anything with RT priority is running in the backgound (e.g. reaper) it can occur much earlier. Is the jack processing thread still running with a higher real-time priority than any reaper threads? (I guess something like "ps ax -T --format uname, pid, lwp, ppid, pri, rtprio, cmd" should help...
