Re: COVID-19

I think it's time to wind down this topic. Indeed 'backstage' is meant as a place where we can post about things not directly related to creating music on Linux, but at 11 pages it's probably way past time to take this discussion somewhere else for those who want to continue it. Thanks! To clarify:...

Re: Has anyone been able to get Dexed working on Linux?

I can't figure it out from the instructions on the github page Can you link to the github page you're referring to? I saw https://github.com/asb2m10/dexed but I don't see such instructions there. it hasn't even told me to download any install files. Where do I get these files from? What directory i...

'pitch match' ear training game

When playing together using instruments that are not restricted to exact pitches, it can be challenging to 'find each other' and play in tune. To put a twist on practicing this, I built a small 'pitch matching' game. You can play it at https://arnout.engelen.eu/test2.html (should work in the browser...

Re: Zoom/Skype replacement for Musicians on Linux?

a music mode (restore original sound) which allows musicians to play together without altering the audio stream What does that actually do? You still won't be able to play together with that, as the network latency will be high enough to interfere with your timing, right? For 'lessons' scenario's (...

This is the wrong section for this thread, however: this board is meant for discussion about the site itself :D
Moved it to "Linux Distributions & Other Software" :)

Re: bitKlavier

It would be cool if it could be built without requiring Projucer - that may not be as impossible as it sounds, https://github.com/OpenShot/libopenshot-audio seems to have it working

Re: Lets resurrect ReZound

Wait, looks like development has continued in https://github.com/ddurham2/rezound - that works for me with only a small patch: https://github.com/ddurham2/rezound/pull/1/files For reference, these are the dependencies I needed on NixOS: { pkgs ? import <nixpkgs> {} }: pkgs.mkShell { buildInputs = [ ...

Re: Lets resurrect ReZound

I am posting this about an application that was very useful and many have probably not even heard about because it was abandoned in 2011. Looks like their version control still has some activity as recent as 2017 (https://sourceforge.net/p/rezound/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/) - but you're right things se...

Re: online music instruction ?

1. Have you taken online lessons ? 2. Have you ever taught anything using online tools, specifically any audio/video tools such as Zoom or Skype? I haven't 3. As a student, would you prefer an interactive or an asynchronous method ? IOW, would you prefer to exchange pre-made videos or take part in ...

Re: Configuration 'quickscan'

I didn't expect it, cause most stuff should be in the default kernels, but man, seems I can set JACK quite a bit tighter with getting less (almost none) xruns with the RT kernel in Debian.. Short test, seems to be a huge (unexpected) improvement. RT kernel? I would say, recommended! (needs a bit mo...

I would consider that hijacking a thread CENSORSHIP attempt Please, behave. jonetsu , this thread was a childish and indeed passive-agressive way to bring up that you found bitsnpcs was posting too much in the "which song is coming out of your speakers right now" topic. bitsnpcs , "censorship" is w...
