I had a very simple solution for my jack not running, not on Linux right now, but look into your settings. Something like HW1 -> look if your soundcard is recognized of that you selected the right one. Also, look in the howto, I posted a link on how to configure your settings for jack.

Many thanks both of you! I'll dive into the other synths. I already saw the document regarding Zynaddsubfx, the only thing is that I don't know how to control the given parameters. With VST plugins in combination with Live I just clicked midi, click a knob that I want to control and turn a knob/fade...

How can I control zynaddsubfx or other plugs?

Regarding my question in the howto: http://linuxmusicians.com/viewtopic.php?t=104 Can somebody help me out? I know Rosegarden has the possibility for basic control using my midi controller (eg, volume, balance) but what I want to do is control al knobs of the synthesizers provided on Linux using my ...

AFAIK there is no specific support topic on this forum. I thought the howto was te best place to be in this aspect.

Which topic do you mean than? I'll post my question there. Thanks.

That's a shame :-( Anyways if somebody can help me out on how to control midi data with my midi controller I'd be delighted. I googled and googled but so far nothing that really indicates a dumb #ss like me in the right direction.

Have to read the Rosegarden manual tomorrow..

Very nice, I read this, the only thing I still don't get is how to control the parameters of Zynaddsubfx with my UC-33e. It must be possible no? I'm using jack and patchage but it still doesn't work so far. Does anybody know how to do this? I know Rosegarden doesn't store the automation, but at leas...

I prefer Ubuntu Studio myself. It's (I think) the distro with the biggest user support group and that's nice if you're a starter.

And it's quite stable and looks good. Heard very good things about 64 studio though. But I'll stick to Ubuntu Studio..

Those sections are ment for mentioning used hardware and recording applications and not for configuration of software. Let's say that it's nicer to post into a specific section when it comes to configuring jack, how to compile new software via scons, how to get low latencies etc. etc. I think it wou...

Exactly, they can use there vst's with Energy XT and/or with reaper without going the DSSI-VST route. Also it's an alternative for nice automation of midi data without having to bounce your tracks to Ardour via eg Rosegarden.
