Re: Bus type and latency
USB is just awful for audio, have a look at firewire interfaces or expresscard (maybe even firewire over expresscard)

Re: Orchestral Plugins?
I think you should look up some samplepacks for linuxsampler, and read up about it. I think it's the closest match.

Re: KXStudio - The KDE Multimedia distro
Thank you for this falktx!
Just one problem: It boots (running in Virtualbox) and after going through the wizard, my desktop is gone, so I created the panel and widgets myself. This is not a problem, but my jack output doesn't work. The .config/jack/conf.xml file is there. How can I fix this?

Are the things you describe the things you do for a living? Or do you have some other job?
If so, respect.

Welcome Scot!
That's certainly a very great history of music-making! May I ask what midi-centered applications you use on Linux? Is there some of your music available for free?
Cheers from the Netherlands!

Try freewheeling:
you can use it to output all midi input to one midi channel. While you're running freewheeling: you should check it out, it's really cool and fun!

Re: In what way modular approach is limiting
I'd like to see LMMS getting jack support: At least then it fits in my audio config. I have a firewire audio interface which simply only works with jack. I'm a fan of both approaches btw (modular and integrated). What's really cool about LMMS is that you can create controllers to control (for instan...

Re: New guy in CT
Usb actually has more bandwith, but firewire is faster. Usb's latency is a bitch, firewire's latency is nice. I have a Presonus Firepod, and I can achieve less than a millisecond latency! A friend of mine has an alesis IO|2, nice interface, but it's USB. He can only get like 5 ms latency. His cpu is...

Re: Hints and tricks for linux audio software
Its too bad that some versions constantly crash when clicking the Q (quantize) button, or won't sync with jack properly, and that saved seq24 sessions with lash don't reconnect alsa properly so your patterns aren't working the next time you open the project. It also behave's strange when playing not...

Re: LMMS 0.4.6 released
I completely agree. It's a pity my Firewire soundcard isn't supported in LMMS. I would really like decent jack support.
If only I could do some C..
It's true btw. LMMS works better in windows, really. Only the latency is not adjustable to a decent value to do some midi recording...

Re: Now I can't build JackMixDesk
It´s looking for a specific version number/package name. Make sure the build script is checking for the correct way your system has version-numbered lash. If the build script is looking for lash-1.0, and the installed version is lash1-0, it won´t work. Apples and Oranges in the same version fruit:)
