Re: What videogame are you playing?

With the announcement that they are finishing the story, I'm replaying (in my very limited free time) The Long Dark story mode. One of my favourite games of all time, sandbox wise, and the story is a nice addition

Welcome! Very interested to hear about the THR5, I really like those little amps. Does it work without issues completely?

Re: I Need Advice on Setting Up Audio Interfaces for Linux

Hello and welcome.

I am happy to report that my Presonus 1810c is working perfectly with Pipewire and Ubuntu Studio 24.04. My Nektar keyboards all work perfectly with Linux too, they come recommended

Re: Where are we at with Wine-Staging and Yabridge? Autumn 2024

I'm on 9.17, and I have to say everything bar one very small manufacturers plugin is working perfectly, and that seems to be down to Vulkan

Re: Is there such a thing as good UX for tab editors?

Honestly, I think all the ones I've used, have the same issues. In my view it's about just really learning a workflow and getting it really under your fingers. I use Tux Guitar myself, which isn't any less fiddly than Guitar Pro but crashes WAY less in my experience :D

Re: wine/yabridge plugin that needs dxvk, but no vulkan support, need workaround

Sorry I don't have a solution, but I did spend a time dealing with the exact same issue and with the same conclusion as you. Solved easier, as I had a fresh Ubuntu Studio install rather than your legacy issues

Re: Your first DAW !

I got to play with ProTracker on Amiga in the 90s, until my sister sat on the disk... I also then had a copy of Music2000 on my PlayStation, which I LOVED and was driven mad by the memory card limits! I then had several high-seas versions of Cubase and used it and Logic at college, all on Windows or...

Re: Basic plugins for Reaper

Use the built in plugins. Yep, that was the conclusion I came to - I was overcomplicating the wheel again! Although through asking the question, I realised that what I actually need to do is invest the time to learn how the settings in these core plugins affect the sound, so that I'm able to use th...

Welcome here, from the opposite end of the country - Kent

Ahha, where my inlaws are! (a suitable distance I feel  )

Good planning? Or {cough} happenstance?

No planning, but it's always suited me well, shall we say!

Hello from Scotland

Hi folks, Been using Linux for many years but always kept a Windows machine for audio. A few weeks ago Universal Audio broke completely and after hours and hours of tech support and troubleshooting I gave up. They were not especially helpful, and I suspect were reading the error logs wrong. I though...
