Re: New MusE crash on big project.

I managed to get my song played, but not on one of the big sound systems, only on the youth stage which only had two small speakers but at least a semi decent sub woofer. Coz they had plenty of time between setting up and having to actually play what they are supposed to play (child musicians perfor...

Re: New MusE crash on big project.

So now I have basically rebuilt this project from scratch. Exporting and importing the MIDI tracks, and one case copy pasting the text events for one track automation. That let me get on with things, and there's basically two bits of 16 bars left to put some music into, and then playing around with ...

Re: Roland Space Echo

Here is what I'm doing. Select a different MIDI channel for each set of these. For this "singing" one it'll be channel 3. ... On further thought, for this workflow I'm trying out, no need for different MIDI channels for these controllers, since I'll be turning monitoring on and off for th...

Re: Roland Space Echo

Correct, TapeDelay2 has no bypass button, and neither does Carla Rack when used as a plugin. I had used the bypass button on some other plugin in the past, so I did known to look for such a thing. MusE has Active and Bypass on it's plugins menu, but they are not automatable. Edit: On the plugins syn...

Re: Roland Space Echo

The solution to that last problem is to split the audio track into two tracks, one with, one without the plugin attached. Then split the audio sample at the point where I want the TapeDelay2 to actually start. Coz the dry/wet control still picks up sounds from before the wet kicks in, which then bec...

Here is what I'm doing. Select a different MIDI channel for each set of these. For this "singing" one it'll be channel 3. Settings -> Midi ports / soft synths Add JACK device, call it "singing ctrl" or something. Route it's JACK In from your actual MIDI keyboard or controller har...

Re: Roland Space Echo

One the other hand, using Carla rack standalone would also use less resource, and you get the advantage that you can separately route the input audio, with multiple plugins in the one rack. The disadvantage is that you are not automating the entire thing from within Muse. On the gripping hand, Carla...

Re: Roland Space Echo

I prefer to see the knobs. Especially when there's more knobs in the rack that I want to control than I have on my MIDI keyboard.

Plus this is my super desktop, it has PLENTY of resources. 64 cores, 128 threads, 256 GB RAM. B-)

Re: Roland Space Echo

And now I have it working with Carla Rack as a single MusE plugin. Brought the complex routing back into MusE, which has better editing of the routing. Only problem now is the version of Carla Rack I have can't learn the MIDI pitch controller. Not sure how to sort that. On the other hand, I'd be usi...

Re: New MusE crash on big project.

When I haven't been busy moving house twice this year, or sitting in dentists for hours multiple times, I have been working on this project. It's a big project. It's what I'm using to learn the ropes with all this fancy new music creation stuff that didn't exist in the '70s. So lots of experiments, ...

Re: Roland Space Echo

OK, one stand alone Carla rack with multiple TapeDelay2 plugins in it, and lots of complex JACK routing later, looks like I have a solution. B-)

The Carla Rack plugin didn't let this happen.

Re: Roland Space Echo

Worked fine with another LV2 and another VST plugin.

TapeDelay2 was great otherwise. Grumble.

Re: Roland Space Echo

So I want to use this TapeDelay2 on several tracks, but it's not co-operating. Hangs or refuses to learn when I try to assign MIDI controllers, whether or not the other one has them assigned.

Is this just TapeDelay2, or just VST plugins, or all of them?

Re: Roland Space Echo

While figuring out how to setup MusE for AbusinG this new TapeDelay2 toy, I stumbled across a fun thing. I've setup a MIDI track to record my fiddling with the controllers on my MIDI keyboard, and feed those control messages to TapeDelay2's various controls. So I can mess with it in real time to get...

Re: New MusE crash on big project.

Wish I had made a backup before I started today. Interesting the SetTheControlsForTheDrumAndTheBass_128_fluidyoshimi.med.backup is from June 4th, which would be before I updated to the current git head that I'm using. Ah I see that "Auto save" is turned off, might have fallen through the ...
