Help for LV2 plugin building
Hello to all! I am giving a try to the idea of "learning how to build plugins". I have some (old) experience with c programming, and extended experience with Python programming. About digital audio, I am rather inexperienced (I started to use Ardour recently), and also my experience with L...

Re: Rich reverb plugin to be used in Ardour
Thanks a lot, sysrqer! I probably ment longer/bigger reverbs, because the one I was using was at the full wetness, and was "not enough" :) I have tried the three you mentioned, from Airwindows, and they are really good! LinVST and yabridge are still too much for me :-/ I will stick with Li...

Rich reverb plugin to be used in Ardour
Here is another newbie question! I am learning how to use plugins in Ardour. I would like to apply (a lot of) reverb to a midi track, and I have tried ACE reverb, and XT-GV GVerb. However, the amount of reverb that I manage to get is... not as much as I would like. I was watching this video , and it...

Re: First steps in drones creation with a DAW
Thanks a lot for your reply! I am not sure if "envelope" is the same as "automation, in Ardour. I think I have found something similar to what you mention, but the closest thing that I read on the submenu is maybe "Expression"? See screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/NmRk37l I h...

First steps in drones creation with a DAW
Hello to all! I am a newbie, with little music education and some (small) experience with DAWs. Moreover, I am new to Linux :) I have recently managed to have Ardour 7.1 up and running, and I am happy with it. I am experimenting with the creation of drones, and I have a couple of questions. First of...

Ardour7 in Flatpack: overcoming the sandboxing with Flatseal?
Hello to all! I am relatively new to Linux, coming from MacOSX. I am playing with Ardour7, and I have installed it in Flatpak. I know that Flatpak applications are supposed to be “sandboxed”, and people is against using Ardour in it. However, I have found that it is possible to play with many (all?)...

Re: No sound when using Fluid Synth in Ardour
I solved it! I was using the wrong format of SoundFonts! It helped when I launched the app from the terminal, and was able to see the error message from FluidSynth, saying it was not able to load it! :) Yeah, there's .sf2 and .sfz (maybe more?). For .sfz files you can use sfizz. Well, actually I wa...

No sound when using Fluid Synth in Ardour
I have Linux Mint 20.3 on a laptop HP EliteBook 840 G7. I have installed Ardour 7.1.0 (rev 7.1) in Flatpak. I am able to play midi tracks using the Reasonable Synth. However, if I use the Fluid Synth I have no output sound... I have tried several SoundFonts, with no result: if I hit the keyboard on ...

Re: Noise when using JACK
I have tried to change the sample rate and the frames/period settings, with many combinations, and also the Timeout, in JACK, but the problem stays the same. Definitely sounds like your audio buffer size is too small anyway. I'd recommend QjackCtl to start and configure Jack. If the largest selecta...

Good idea!
I tried other soundfonts, but the result is the same!

Noise when using JACK
Hello to all! I am relatively new to Linux, I am a former Mac user, with some "hobbyist level" experience with music production (basic knowledge of Garageband). I am now experimenting with audio production under Linux. I am on an HP EliteBook 840 G7, with Linux Mint 20.3. Following the ste...
