Re: Melonix

Sad ... but it probably has died. There is still no tool under Linux that can come close to Melodyne and it will probably stay that way for a long time. After all, there remains at least mx tune with which halfway semi-serious work is possible. Everything else under Linux is completely out of the qu...

Re: AV-Linux - Realtime Kernel - XFCE Tweak - SoundFont

AV-Linux is back! Big surprise: After the penultimate almost unusable and ugly open box version from 2022, the new version is based again on xfce (now 18) - released January 2023. Everything is very well implemented and good looking. All important programs such as Ardour and Reaper are included in t...

Re: Are Real-Time Kernels Safe?

Inaudible latencies can only be achieved with real RT-Kernels. Low-Latency and Liquorix-Kernels are nice tries but they almost double latency so they are unfortunately not an option for professional audio recordings - at least up to now. I set up a Dual Boot Linux PC (Vanilla-Kernel for daily use an...

Re: Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no useful pitch correction plugin like Melodyne available ?

Hello WforWoollyMammoth, As far as I know, Reapers ReaTune is the only pitch tool that can also be used professionally under Linux - at least halfway. Indeed, we're actually pretty damn lucky that Cockos/Reaper has such a functionality implemented. Otherwise I would have had to go back to Windows. M...

Re: AV-Linux - Realtime Kernel - XFCE Tweak - SoundFont

Hello Jeffg, thank you for providing your files to me/us! Unfortunately I was not able to open your sfz files with a soundfont player (fluidsynth/calf player) but I was able to listen to some wave sounds. Especially the drum sounds are very authentic. I would love to use them in my future projects. ...

Re: Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no useful pitch correction plugin like Melodyne available ?

I want to clarify a few things. Pitch tools are standard in almost every professional/commercial production these days. Productions without pitch tools have been the exception for a long time. Even great singers like Dimash use it from time to time and singers like Ma..... are completely lost (espec...

Re: Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no useful pitch correction plugin like Melodyne available ?

That's true! 2 years ago I asked Celemony/München to do a Linux-Melodyne but they were not interested. :(

Thx Scott!

Re: Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no useful pitch correction plugin like Melodyne available ?

Hello WforWoollyMammoth, "I see. You are looking for a comparable level of convenience for the task as on Win / Mac." Yes, why should Linux audio stay behind Win/Mac Audio? Linux audio is in the meantime at least as good (if not better) than Win/Mac audio with the exception of this matter ...

Re: Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no useful pitch correction plugin like Melodyne available ?

Hello autostatic, hello WforWoollyMammoth, with Melodyne and ReaTune you can edit pitch of every recorded note graphically with the mouse. The plugins you mentioned can only be edited via the detour of midi input - not directly and fine-tuned (like Melodyne or ReaTune). It is almost impossible to wo...

Re: Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no pitch correction plugin available ?

Hello WforWoollyMammoth, thank you for your reply! GSnap is not comparable to Reatune and Melodyne. It just corrects the pitch automatically (not even in real-time) like some Linux tools (Autotalent, Zita-AT and so on). They have in common that you cannot edit each note by hand. They are nice toys b...

Re: AV-Linux - Realtime Kernel - XFCE Tweak - SoundFont

Hello Jeffg, it's a pity that (at least on my PC) BackupBand is difficult to install properly. I'am still interested in BackupBand but can't get it to work. Maybe I'm not the only one having this problem. There are some good Sound font players in Linux world but not a large selection of really good ...

Ardour Linux Audio - 2022 still no useful pitch correction plugin like Melodyne available ?

I'm a Linux user since 2009 and I used Ardour from 2015 to 2018. As a singer pitch correction - and even more pitch control - it is indispensable for me so I changed to ReaperLinux in 2018 for this reason. Reaper includes ReaTune which is really good to my ears. Of course you can do more with Melody...

Re: AV-Linux - Realtime Kernel - XFCE Tweak - SoundFont

Hello Jeffg, thank you for your help! I'm running on 64-bit Linux. Gui opens but I cannot select a soundcard. Weird ... Zonk I could not get BackupBand to work. Are you running it on a 64-bit Linux? The executable in the zip is compiled for 64-bit. Also, did you right-click on the BackupBand icon, a...

Re: AV-Linux - Realtime Kernel - XFCE Tweak - SoundFont

Hello Scott, I'm glad to hear that you get along with Liquorix at this low latency values. How big are your projects? Do you usually have more than 20 tracks with some power consuming vst plugins too? I cant hardly believe ... I have tried a few tweaks on different pc's and distributions over the la...
